God's Gift To You

Translator

God wants His creation to understand, receive the full impact of His Gift to you and me.  Most of the world realizes that Jesus died on the cross for our sins.  It is one thing to know that fact, but it is God's desire that we have a deep understanding and realize the full impact of what God has actually done for you and me, as we contemplate the Gift of God.

I frequently ask the Lord to give me divine revelations, to open the understanding of His Word to my heart and make me realize what He wants me to know.  Jesus said, "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you" Matthew 7:7.   As I prayed this morning, I was thanking God for His sacrifice and the death of Jesus on the cross to pay the penalty for my sins, the sins I should have had to die for, according to God's law.  He said from the beginning, "All souls are Mine, the soul of the father and the soul of the son are Mine: the soul that sins will die" Ezekiel 18:4.  This is God's law.  As I prayed, this is what the Lord revealed to me:

Man has failed in his responsibility to respect and abide by the laws God gave him; but He loves us so much and desires so much to save us from the penalty of sin, that He sent His Son to take on the form of flesh and pay the penalty for all of our sins; we need only receive His Gift and follow Him to receive eternal life, and escape the penalty of eternal death.  During prayer, the Lord suddenly brought my mind to an event one day when my only son, Levi, told me that he was in so much pain from Crohn's disease that he picked up a 357 Magnum his father had purchased for him and he put it to his own head, pulling the trigger.  He had been living with his father at the time (his father divorced me in 1997) and he said he couldn't bear the pain any longer.  I told him I couldn't believe he would consider doing such a thing, even though my heart was grieved for his suffering.  He was back home with me at that time and he went to his dresser and took out a hallow-point bullet with an indentation mark at the bottom it.  He showed me that bullet, holding it next to a new one, and he explained how the hammer fell on the bullet that he tried to fire, making a mark in it (unlike the new bullet with no mark), but it didn't fire.  I was mortified, considering the implications and how devastated I would have been had he succeeded in killing himself.  I knew I would never have been able to recover from such horror and demise to my only beloved son.  I suddenly realized the impact of what God did on that day for Levi and for me.  I went immediately to Levi's room and retrieved the bullets he once showed me.  I held them in my hands and as I did that, I realized that God loved us so much, He held that bullet from firing out of a high powered handgun into my precious Levi's head!  I bowed my head to the floor and cried out thanks and praise to God for His great love and mercy beyond my comprehension.  Meditating that event right there on my knees in prayer, I thought about how I would feel to see my only beloved son dying a cruel death on a cross for the sins of the whole world.  Suddenly a deep, painful grief came over me, unlike I had ever experienced regarding the cruel, painful and shameful death of the only begotten Son of God, as He suffered on the cross for you and me.  I cried and I could only imagine the horror, pain and immeasurable grief I would endure if my own son died on the cross for the sins of the world.  I am unable to take on the emotions of God, for He is the epitome of love and the epitome of wrath all wrapped up into one, according to the Word of God.  First, I can tell you that even if it cost the entire world their eternal souls, I could not have given my only son, my precious son, Levi, on a cross to pay for the sins of mankind.  Second, even if I loved the world enough to give them my only precious son, I can't imagine what I would want to do to them if they rejected his pain, suffering and Gift to them; even so, I don't believe I could muster up enough wrath to send anyone to a burning, fiery hell for eternity, but these are the emotions of God, according to His Word (Matthew 10:28 and Hebrews 10:26-29).

Jesus gave a parable about the likeness of God's Gift to us:  "There was a certain householder who planted a vineyard, hedged it round about, digged a winepress in it, built a tower, and he rented it out to husbandmen and went on a far journey.  When the time of harvest drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen to receive the fruit of the vineyard.  The husbandmen took his servants, beat one, killed another and stoned another.  Again, he sent servants, a greater number than the first, but they did the same thing to those servants.  Last of all, he sent his son to them, saying, "They will reverence my son;" but when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, "This is the heir, come, let us kill him and seize the inheritance."  They caught him, cast him out of the vineyard and killed him.  When the lord of the vineyard returns, what will he do to those husbandmen?"  They (those who heard Jesus) said to him, "He will miserably destroy those wicked men and will rent his vineyard to other husbandmen, who will give him the fruit at harvest time" Matthew 21:33-41.

God sent Moses and the prophets into the world with the law of God.  Man failed to keep God's law, many times they killed the prophets, and even went so far as to make images and served idols they made with their own hands (2 Kings 17:16).  Their souls were condemned to eternal death for these sins, as laid out by God's law (Ezekiel 18:4); but "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but have everlasting life" John 3:16.

In order to understand the full impact of God's Gift to you, you need only imagine your own precious son suffering on the cross, crucified for the sins of the whole world.  If you don't have a son, just imagine sending the most precious person in your life to the cross to suffer the penalty for the sins of the world.  This is how much God the Father, your Creator, loves you.
