USGS:  A major 6.2 earthquake hit off the East Coast of Honshu, Japan Wednesday, August 17, 2011, at 11:44:07 UTC, at a depth of 10 km (6.2 mi).

Commentary:  This major quake hit very near the surface this time.  Since the tsunami earlier this year, Honshu, Japan is rocking and reeling with major earthquakes on a regular basis.  Generally they are much deeper, but this one must have really jolted Japan today.  Jesus said, "Nation will rise against nation, kingdom against kingdom and there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles; these are the beginnings of sorrows" Mark 13:8.
