A major 6.3 earthquake hit the Xinjian and Xizang borders in China on Sunday, August 12, 2012, at 10:47:06 UTC, at a depth of 11 km (6.8 mi).  Four major (>6.2) earthquakes have hit in less than 48 hours! 

The recent major quakes throughout the world have mostly hit close to the earth's surface, which have caused more deaths and destruction, such as the casualties suffered in Iran yesterday.  This earthquake was only 11 km deep, although it struck a more remote area of western China in the Kunlun mountains; unlike the 6.4 and 6.4 quakes which hit Iran yesterday, eleven minutes apart. 

Update on Iran Earthquakes

The latest death toll from Iran's quakes is about 300, with approximately 2,000 injuries, according to the Los Angeles Times.  Citizens have continued rescue efforts and a greater number of casualties are expected.  Government rescue efforts were discontinued and it has been reported that their main focus now is assisting with food and shelter.  Witnesses have complained that the government is not doing enough to help rescue those who remain trapped. 

The Iranian government rules under Sharia law and they allow men to "honor" kill their wives and daughters, rarely resulting in an arrest.  The government allows public beheading of those who are "apostates," or deflect the Muslim faith, and stoning (to death) of those caught in adultery.  What remains here is a largely desensitized nation, which is obviously not concerned about those still trapped and suffering in fallen buildings the day following two major earthquakes. 

Jesus said these signs would appear before He returns, "Nation will rise against nation, kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines, pestilences and earthquakes in various places" Matthew 24:7. 

Jesus also made reference to a time when families would be divided, "The father will be divided against the son, the son against the father; mother against daughter and daughter against mother; mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law" Luke 12:53.  I believe this prophecy includes Muslims whose families so often forsake and kill them in the name of Allah.  Yes, Jesus was talking to his Jewish brethren, although many Jews were enslaved and forced to convert during Islamic conquests over Jewish settlements.
