A major 6.4 earthquake hit Simeulue, Indonesia on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at 00:27:45 UTC, at a depth of 22 km (13.7 mi). This is the third major (>5.9) earthquake to hit in the last five days.

There have never been as many major earthquakes throughout history with such frequency on record as we are seeing right now and the stats keep climbing.

Jesus said these signs would appear before He returns, "Nation will rise against nation, kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines, pestilences and earthquakes in various places" Matthew 24:7.

The graph below shows the drastic increase in earthquake activity between 2010 and 2011 (look closely at the 2011 increase on the graph near the right border, as opposed to the level of earthquakes recorded in 2010 and prior).  Major earthquakes continue to increase with great frequency in 2012.
* I don't report earthquakes under 6.0.  The 155 earthquakes you will find in the Earthquakes category are all 6.0 or greater!
