Associated Press (excerpts):  Orlando, FL:  A case that involved years of forensic investigation, weeks of often highly technical testimony and untold hours of media analysis turned out to be pretty straight forward for the jurors weighing whether Casey Anthony killed her toddler daughter.  Early in their second day of deliberations, the 12 men and women concluded that the 25-year-old lied to investigators, but wasn't guilty in her child's death.  Many in the crowd of about 500 people outside the courthouse reacted with anger as the verdict was read, chanting, "Justice for Caylee!"  One man yelled, "Baby killer!"  Prosecutors contended that Anthony, a single mother living with her parents, suffocated Caylee with duct tape because she wanted to be free to hit the nightclubs and spend time with her boyfriend.  Defense attorneys argued that the little girl accidentally drowned in the family swimming pool and that Anthony panicked and hid the body because of being sexually abused by her father.  (This is exactly what the Mendez brothers did after they were charged with their parents' murders; they said they had been sexually assaulted by their father.  When all else fails, say you hid your dead baby and waited a month to report her missing because you were sexually abused as a child - works almost every time.)  The jurors, seven women and five men, would not talk to the media and their identities were kept secret by the court.  (I would hide out too, if I came up with that verdict.)  State's Attorney Lawson Lamar said: "We're disappointed in the verdict today because we know the facts and we've put in absolutely every piece of evidence that existed."  The prosecutor lamented the lack of hard evidence, saying, "This is a dry-bones case; very, very difficult to prove.  The delay in recovering little Caylee's remains worked to our considerable disadvantage."  Caylee's disappearance went unreported by her own mother for a month.  The child's decomposed body was eventually found in the woods near her grandparents' home six months after she was last seen.  A medical examiner was never able to establish how she died.  In closing arguments, prosecutor Linda Drane Burdick showed the jury two side-by-side images.  One showed Anthony smiling and partying in a nightclub during the first month Caylee went missing.  The other was the tattoo Anthony got a day before law enforcement learned of the child's disappearance: the Italian words for "beautiful life."  Prosecutors also focused on an odor in the trunk of Anthony's car, which forensics experts said was consistent with the smell of human decay.  Prosecutors hammered away at the lies Anthony told when the child was missing:  She told her parents that she couldn't produce Caylee because the girl was with a nanny named Zanny - a woman who doesn't exist; that she and her daughter were spending time with a rich boyfriend who doesn't exist; and that Zanny had been hospitalized after an out-of-town traffic crash and that they were spending time with her (how about, Mr. Magoo has taken Caylee to the moon and they just haven't returned back yet).  The defense contended that the toddler drowned and when Anthony panicked, her father, a former police officer, decided to make the death look like a murder by putting duct tape on the girl's mouth and dumping the body in the woods a quarter-mile away.  Anthony's father denied both the cover-up and the abuse claims.  (Now you would think that if a former police officer was trying to cover up an accident, which is absurd in the first place, he would hide the body a bit farther away than just a quarter-mile from his own home! - but this is all absurd anyway).

My Comments:  The verdict is in and I wasn't surprised one bit.  It appears that more often than not, the worse the case is, the more egregious, the more people are getting off.  We live in a very wicked world, where your average person doesn't have discernment or the wisdom from God to make just and rational judgments anymore.  I see this time and time again.  I kept thinking lately, as bad as this case is, I imagine she is going to get off - that's exactly what happened!  The Bible says, "How long will you judge unjustly and accept wicked people?" Psalm 82:2.  "The earth has been given into the hands of the wicked; He (God) blindfolds the judges; if not God, who is responsible then?" Job 9:24.  The world is steeped in wickedness, as the Bible says it will be in the last days.  Time and time again, the Bible says that the wicked will be given over to reprobate minds, to believe lies, because of their wickedness.  God will not always strive with men, to bring them to repentance.  Once they reject Him often enough, He gives them over to their own deceit.  "Because they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do things that are not convenient."  Romans 1:28.  I have one thing more to say.  Casey Anthony didn't get away with anything.  If she doesn't repent and turn to God, she will end up in hell fire for her very wicked deeds.  "The Son of man (Jesus) will send forth His angels and they will gather out of His kingdom all that offend and those that do wickedly, and will cast them into a furnace of fire:  There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth."  Matthew 13:41-42
