China:  Flooding from two typhoons sparked a warning released by officials that China is due for more natural disasters ahead due to the climate change.  A recent record rainfall in China hit 126.4 millimeters in one hour in Beijing.  In like manner, Hong Kong had 115 mm, Wuhan in central China had 107 mm, and 185 mm in Jinan, eastern China.

The China Daily reported Friday that a late rainstorm in July in Beijing produced 541 mm of rain in one part of town, which killed at least 79 people.

Today's typhoon flooding in eastern China caused thousands to be stranded, including about 2,500 tourists, who had to be evacuated and bussed to safe areas.

Philippines: More than 24 hours of torrential rains have caused the deaths of at least 15 people and approximately 250,000 people have fled their homes in Manila.  After mudslides, officials are still searching for casualties.  Water in some areas are neck deep and about 50 percent of Manila is flooded.  Schools, businesses and most government offices are closed and officials are working to evacuate those who are stranded.

Power has been turned off in some areas as a safety precaution.  Officials said they are receiving calls for help in some areas that are too dangerous for authorities to evacuate.  The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said more than 800,000 people have been affected, reported abc.net.au.  The number of deaths due to monsoon rains over the past week total 68 in the Philippines.

The Word of God tells us that there will be great storms in the last days, "The Lord has a mighty and strong tempest of hail and a destroying storm, as a flood of mighty waters overflowing, will cast down to earth with the hand" Isaiah 28:2.  The prophets Isaiah, Zechariah, Hosea, Joel and others prophesied about how that the prevailing sins of the wicked would bring about the wrath of God in the last days.  These events also cause us to know that the Lord will come for His people soon, because we will escape the wrath to come (1 Thessalonians 1:10).

Yes, throughout history, we have seen great storms and natural disasters, but never on the scale we are seeing worldwide today.  Officials simply rule these events consequences of climate change.  Nevertheless, the prophets of old, moved by the Holy Spirit, spoke of things that will come to pass in the last days.
