Scientists have decided to study Adam Lanza's DNA to determine whether or not he has an "evil gene."  Adam Lanza was responsible for killing 27 at the Sandy Hook Middle School in Connecticut, his mother and then himself. 

The Word of God tells us that "Because when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful, but became vain in their imaginations and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools" Romans 1:21-22. 

The Word of God tells us, "Do you not know that to whom you yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants you are...whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?" Romans 6:16. 

Adam Lanza was barely reaching adulthood and he obviously had some emotional and character problems, but he also had been informed that his own mother sought to gain conservatorship and have him committed to a mental institution.  Did she take him to church, have Bible study with him, pray with him?  From the reports I have heard, it doesn't appear to be the case.  On the contrary, there have been news reports that he spent most of his days in a darkened basement playing violent video games, while his mother joined games in the neighborhood and frequented a bar.  It was also reported that his mother took him to a shooting range and stockpiled weapons in the house. 

Let's recap, mother: games, bar, firearms, seeking to commit son to mental institution.  Recap, son: darkened basement, violent video games, introverted, emotional/character problems.  I heard absolutely nothing about a church, friends at church, Bible study, prayer, or even the word "God" mentioned in many news reports about Adam and his family. 

This is a tragic case.  Some may resent my saying it, but I actually pitied the boy who committed these crimes.  Obviously, those who were most pathetic were the tragic little victims in this case.  I believe that in many ways Adam Lanza was also a victim - of his Godless upbringing.  I can't help but wonder what the outcome may have been if Adam Lanza attended church with his mother, prayed with her, studied and played Bible games with her and if he had been encouraged to associate with Christian kids his age, who loved the Lord. 

A hundred years ago, if a crime such as this was rarely committed, people still had enough God-consciousness to know that we suffer the consequences of our own choices, or our upbringing.  God made a promise in His Word, "Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it" Proverbs 22:6.  People still had the fear of God, enough to know that we are servants of the one we obey, whether we obey God and do what is right, or obey satan and do what is wrong, or even something horrifying.  Now that people are so "educated" (with their Godless educations) and scientifically advanced, they want to blame it on the DNA!  "...professing themselves to be wise, they became fools" Romans 1:22. 

The answers are in the Word of God, folks.  To side-step the Word of God and look elsewhere is foolish.  Much of the world has become "darkened and foolish," because they will look down almost every avenue for answers, except from the One who created us and knows everything, our God.

Yes, we certainly have to say that science has learned a lot and has greatly advanced, but will it save your eternal soul?  Then it amounts, in the end, to very little. 

"What is a man profited if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul? What shall a man give in exchange for his soul?" Matthew 16:26.
