This is a continuation of a synopsis of Matthew 24, which was started last week. In Matthew 24, Jesus told His disciples about the signs that would be prevalent in the world preceding His return. Today, we will discuss the ninth sign stated by Jesus in Matthew 24:12, "Because iniquity will abound, the love of many will wax cold." Jesus wasn't referring to the love of just anyone. In the following verse 13, Jesus said, "But he who endures to the end will be saved." This clarifies who Jesus is talking about. He is referring to believers, people who once had the love of God, but were drawn away from God's love by iniquity. He clarified in verse 13 that, "he who endures to the end will be saved." In other words, it is not so much how we start out our walk with the Lord, but it is most critical how we finish up. Jesus told His disciples a parable about the sower and the seed. He said, "Some (seed) fell among thorns and the thorns sprung up and choked them" Matthew 13:7. In verse 22, Jesus went on to explain what His parable meant, "He who received seed among thorns is he who hears the Word of God, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choked the Word, and he became unfruitful" Matthew 13:22. Jesus said in Matthew 6:24, "No man can serve two masters; he will either hate one and love the other, or he will hold to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon (money)." In another passage, the Bible says, "The love of money is the root of all evil, which while some coveted after it, they have erred from the faith and pierced themselves through with many sorrows" 1 Timothy 6:10.
I have been around for a long time. I was raised in the house of God since I was about one year old. Over the years, I have seen ministers who started out faithful and sincere, but once they began receiving a lot of support and their monetary wealth accumulated, they grew cold spiritually. This happens time and time again, but it doesn't have to happen. The love and zeal they first had for God wanes and "waxes cold." Jesus did say, "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God" Matthew19:24. He went on to say in verse 26, "Jesus looked a them and said to them, 'With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible" Matthew 19:26. The Apostle Paul wrote, "Charge those who are rich in this world, that they be not highminded or trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who gives to us richly all things to enjoy, that they do good, be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate, laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life" 1 Timothy 6:17-19. It seems very difficult for those who are blessed with riches and abundance in this world to also live a Godly life and be willing to distribute, as God directs them, to others who are in need; nevertheless, Jesus said it is not impossible. When ministers focus on wealth, collections of tithes and offerings into their ministries, so much so that you rarely hear the gospel anymore, because it is all about money, "withdraw yourselves from those." 1 Timothy 6:3-6 says, "If any man teaches otherwise, and consents not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; he is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof comes envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness, 'from such withdraw yourself.' Godliness with contentment is great gain."
If you are attending a church, or listening to a minister who has departed from the faith, because he preaches more about money than he does the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Lord may be talking to you right now. He may be leading you away from those whose god has become "their belly" (Philippians 3:18-19). Please remember the words the apostle Paul spoke, "withdraw yourselves from them." If you need spiritual guidance, there is a list of online ministries (including links to their websites) on the Links page of this website, which can provide you with the spiritual guidance you need, by those whose hearts are for truth and pleasing the Lord - not financial gain. God bless you.

USGS: A major 6.5 earthquake hit Guerrero, Mexico on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at 01:47:26 UTC, at a depth of 64.9 km (40.3 mi).
Commentary: Major earthquakes continue to hit throughout the world in various places on a regular basis. A few centuries ago, these were rare, now generally a week doesn't pass without seeing one or numerous major (>5.9) earthquakes. The graph below, which starts in 1973 and ends this year, October 2011, is very telling. "Nation will rise against nation, kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines, pestilences and earthquakes in various places" Matthew 24:7.

Rick Perry, GOP presidential candidate, stands for Christians' heritage in America. The Huffington Post called Rick Perry's recent campaign add "despicable" and Fox News insinuated that Rick Perry tried to blame President Obama for banning prayer in public schools, which is not what Rick Perry did at all. Since President Obama started his campaign for president in 2006, he has been attacking the Bible, Christianity and even Jesus's Sermon on the Mount (see those videos on the News Videos page of this site). Rick Perry, as everyone does, realizes that prayer was removed from public schools in the 60s. His point is that President Obama has been attacking Christianity even before he was elected President and he continues to do so. Even though President Obama denies being a Muslim, probably because of the majority of Christians in this nation, his father was a Muslim, he was registered as Muslim in school, many of his relatives are Muslims and he has even stated in his book, Audacity of Hope, that he would "stand with the Muslims should the political winds of war shift in an ugly direction." There is no doubt about it, he sides with the Muslims on every hand. He is a Muslim and he attacks the Bible and Christianity.
Rick Perry is receiving a lot of heat all over the place for his controversial campaign add contrasting how gays are allowed to serve in the military, but our children aren't allowed to pray or celebrate Christmas in school. This is true, and not only is this true, but public school curriculum is teaching children that gay lifestyles are normal and respectable. This trash shouldn't be shoved down the throats of American children as young as six years old simply because about 2% of the population decide to live perverted lifestyles. Rick Perry has been open about his faith as Texas Governor. Nothing has changed about Rick Perry. He isn't perfect and he has made some blunders, as everyone does, but he is very conservative and he believes in preserving our Christian heritage and the rights of Christians. Too many politicians today say they are Christians, such as President Obama, but they live hypocritical lifestyles and some, such as President Obama, are even opposing to Christianity (you can find more information at this link: AudacityofHypocrisy.com).

This is a continuation of a synopsis of Matthew 24. In this chapter, Jesus foretold His disciples of certain signs that would be prevalent in the world when He returns. Seven signs have been addressed already and today, we will review details of the eighth sign Jesus spoke of in Matthew 24:11, "Many false prophets will rise and deceive many." The simple truth is, contrary to what many are teaching today, there is one God, one Savior, and one truth. The Bible is very clear on this subject, "Let this be known to you all and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, who you crucified, who God raised from the dead, even by Him does this man stand before you well...Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved" Acts 4:10,12.
The Apostle John wrote, "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but test the spirits to determine whether they are of God or not, because many false prophets have gone out into the world" 1 John 4:1. False prophets are those who twist the Word of God and distort it, fashioning it to fit their perverse lifestyles. False prophets also predict things that do not happen. A true prophet never lies, they are 100% accurate, according to the Word of God. Several false prophets easily come to mind right away: David Koresh, who was burned to a crisp with 54 of his followers and, sadly, 21 of their children. Jim Jones, who committed suicide with 909 of his followers in Jonestown, Guyana. Marshall Applewhite, who committed suicide with 39 of his cult members (and later, an additional two of his followers committed suicide). These are just a few false prophets, who started out as false prophets, and later went so far as to claim to be Christ Himself, or Christ reincarnated, and who all came to a tragic end, which is not shocking in the least. It is fearful thing to blaspheme the God of heaven. Beyond these few, there were many false Christs discussed in a report last week (dated 12/2/11) titled, Matthew 24: First Sign. There are 21 false Christs named in that article, many of whom started out as false prophets, then later proclaimed themselves to be Jesus Christ, or Jesus reincarnated.
There are many false prophets and teachers today, namely those who preach wealth and prosperity doctrines. Paul wrote to Timothy, in 1 Timothy 6:3-6, "If any man teach otherwise, and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; he is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and words of strife, from which comes envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, perverse disputing of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, supposing that GAIN is godliness: from such withdraw yourself. Godliness with contentment is great gain." That is very plain, simple and to the point. "Jesus said, 'The foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of man (Jesus Himself) does not have a place to lay His head" Matthew 8:20. Jesus did not teach a wealth and prosperity doctrine. In fact, when He instructed His disciples to go out witnessing and preaching, these were His words: "He called the twelve (disciples) to Him and began to send them forth by twos, and gave them power over unclean spirits; and commanded them to take nothing for their journey, only their staff (cane); no script, no bread and no money in their purse" Mark 6:7-8. Notice, Jesus did not instruct them to go out and take up collections and when they did, He would make them very rich, and everyone else who comes to the Lord. His instructions included going out by faith and relying on God, who sent them. Jesus, knowing all things, did not want His disciples to be a reproach, or criticized by the people, as those seeking wealth and gain. Their mission was to take the Word of God to the people, heal the sick and cast out demons, not go out and get wealth! The message is still the same today, yet you hear of preacher after preacher who is living the life of luxury, while even their members live very poorly. Here are some popular false prophets preaching wealth and prosperity, who have bilked millions from naive people: Robert Tilton, "Reverend" Ike (Frederick Eikerenkoetter II), Joel Osteen, Keneth Copeland, Jesse Duplantis, Frederick Price...the list goes on. Of course, they preach some of the truth, but not all of it, especially not the parts that many people don't want to hear about, such as the punishment of sin. Their primary message is a "feel good gospel."
Another popular thing ministers are doing today is drawing crowds with the enticement of the "world" inside of the churches. In other words, they are using worldly techniques to draw people to church. Jesus never used the tactics of the devil to increase His following, in fact, just as he posed the question to the rich young ruler, "Sell all that you have, give it to the poor, and follow Me" (Matthew 19:21), He made it a bit hard for some to follow Him, because He only wanted those who were sincere in heart. He had no use for hypocrites, whose hearts were still in the "world." If ministers are using worldly music, worldly events, worldly stage settings and other attractions to draw the crowds to their churches, they are deceived. Jesus didn't do it and no minister of His will do it. Of course, it depends on what the minister is interested in, sincere followers of Christ, or building up the church attendance in order to build up the tithes and offerings. As the Apostle Paul said, "withdraw yourself from them." Measure every preacher or prophet by God's Word. Some preachers actually deceive themselves into thinking, "This is just a method to get the sinner into the church, then they can get saved!" Wrong, this is a deception. These people will have come for the wrong reason and their "foundations will be built on the sand" (Matthew 7:26), not the solid rock of Jesus.
Without going on indefinitely, sincere people who just want to serve God and live according to His Word, need to make certain they compare every word from a preacher's mouth to the Word of God. If what they are saying and teaching doesn't fit with the life and ministry of Jesus, then they are false teachers/prophets, and as the Apostle Paul admonished Timothy, "withdraw yourself from them."

CompassDirect.org (excerpts): Christian loses livelihood and relatives for leaving Islam.
Lahore, Pakistan - When Malik Pauloos of Bhakkar district, Punjab Province finally decided to trust a close relative with the secret that he had left Islam for Christianity, there was no question in his relative's mind that Pauloos's relationship with the family was over. The family had been custodian of an Islamic shrine, the Pir Syed Karamat Shah in Kot Islam, for three generations. Though Pauloos had moved to Karachi 20 years ago to start a scrap business, he continued fulfilling his duties to prepare the shrine for annual pilgrimages, but after he withdrew from it over time upon his conversion, shrine leaders were asking pointed questions about his adherence to Islam. "I told him (the relative) to get the shrine people off my back, because I did not want to keep any point of contact with my past life," Pauloos, 36, told Compass. "Although shocked, my relative said that he would first try and make my family understand the situation, and then they could figure out a way of letting me walk away peacefully." Pauloos did not realize that, beyond disowning him, his family would file a police complaint against him, because as a murtad or apostate deserving death, he was said to have committed "blasphemy." With authorities' help, family members are trying to track him down. His father put up a notice in a local newspaper disowning him, he said. Pauloos said that he left his business last month and came to Punjab, where he has been travelling from one city to another sharing his experience of Christ. Pauloos said he does not regret trusting in Christ as Savior, even though he has lost a comfortable life, a successful business, and his Muslim family and friends are in hot pursuit to "kill the apostate."
Commentary: There are many testimonials throughout the internet of former Muslims who have given up everything - family, friends, businesses, properties, inheritances - everything to follow Christ, even at the risk of their lives. Most of us in the US and throughout the world have nothing to lose, but everything to gain, to follow Christ; yet many still refuse the Lord for the temporary, futile pleasures of this life, or to worship satan, the pathway to eternal damnation. In the book of Hebrews, we are reminded that the patriarch Moses, "Chose to suffer affliction with the people of God, than enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season" Hebrews 11:25. Many people live as though their lives on this planet are never going to end, as though they will never face God for the life they have lived, or their decision to live for the pleasures of sin for just a little while. We shouldn't forget that the Bible says, "Do not be deceived, God is not mocked, whatever a man sows, he will also reap" Galatians 6:7.

This is a continuation of a synopsis of Matthew 24, which began six days ago. Today, we are at the seventh sign signifying the return of Christ, spoken of by Jesus in Matthew 24:10, "Many will be offended and betray one another and hate one another." Jesus was saying that many will be offended because of the gospel, as people are converted to Christianity, and they will hate and betray one another for that reason. This verse, 10, is a continuation of the preceding verse 9, when the Lord said, "They will deliver you up to be afflicted and they will kill you; you will be hated of all nations for My name's sake." A clear example of this, which is very prevalent throughout the world today, are when Muslims convert to Christianity and their own families turn against them, even killing them in the name of "family honor." You need only go to your web browser and type "family members killed for converting to Christianity" and you will receive hundreds of hits on instances where family members turned on their own family, even killing them for converting to Christianity. Wikipedia has dedicated an entire website to a list of notable people who have converted from various faiths to Christianity, most of whom converted from Islam to Christianity, and many of whom have died for their faith, and have been betrayed by family and "friends." The name of the website is: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_people_who_converted_to_Christianity The website gives excerpts of the conversions and occasionally details of the betrayal or murder. Wikipedia has dedicated another website to the persecution of ex-Muslims. The name of that website is: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persecution_of_Ex-Muslims There are 46 pages linked to this website, because each of the 46 countries where ex-Muslims are persecuted has its own page. There are volumes of information on each page and the killings, persecutions, betrayals and hatred exacted against Christian converts is phenomenal in the day we live in. (9/23/12 UPDATE: Wikipedia has removed this site, much like other censorship going on all over the internet now.) I will relay one story here, among hundreds reported on this website, because it is so shocking and in line with the hatred and betrayal Jesus spoke of: Muslim villagers coerce brothers to expel their elderly parents from home for converting to Christianity. Ishmael (70) and Rahima (55), now living in a shelter, say they would rather starve to death than return to Islam. Ishmael Sheikh and his wife Rahima Khatun were baptized on November 9. By the end of the month, Sheikh told Compass, Muslim neighbors in Kathuly village, near Gangni town in Meherpur district, had compelled their two sons to expel them from their house. Meherpur district is 270 kilometers (168 miles) west of Dhaka. The ailing Sheikh told Compass that his two sons had come under tremendous pressure from neighbors in the village, which was entirely Muslim before the couple received Christ. The neighbors threatened that the children of Sheikh's sons would not be allowed to marry anyone from the village if the brothers allowed their parents to remain in the home. The couple went to a shelter used by itinerant minstrels who sing traditional Bengali songs a half kilometer away from their home. "I got salvation in Jesus," Sheikh said. "In this shelter without food, I am ready to flirt with death by debilitating illness or by attack by Muslim neighbors, but never will I go back to Islam." (Bangladesh: Compass Direct, January 14, 2009)This type of thing is happening all over the world. In some of the worst cases, even here in the United States, people are being killed by their relatives or the government (in nations outside of the US) for converting to Christianity. In a preceding post, I wrote of a Muslim man, Mohammad Shafia, from Canada, who killed his three daughters and one of his wives by drowning them in the family car in a canal in Kingston, Ontario. He is currently being tried in Canada, along with his second wife and their son, Hamed. A police wiretap was played in court, from which he was heard saying, "God's curse on them (referring to his daughters)." In another wiretap, he was heard saying, "May the devil (defecate) on their graves." This kind of hate coming from a natural father towards his three daughters is truly satanic, but the Muslim world refuses to see that. This type of reaction to daughters who date "non-Muslim boys" is a "godly reaction" to "family shame," according to Muslims. There are just too many stories to enumerate, but you can always visit CompassDirect.org to read articles daily, detailing Christian persecution among families and within communities. The whole website is dedicated to articles of Christian persecution, which is so widespread, if you visit the site, you will know that the Lord's return is very near, even at the door.
We have so far addressed seven signs in Matthew 24, pointing to the return of Jesus in our generation. All of the evidence, so far, reveals that His return is imminent. Are you ready to face the Lord and be judged according to your decision to receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior, and follow His teachings in the Word of God? Our eternal destiny depends on the outcome of that decision. If you haven't received Jesus, please visit the How Can I Be Saved page of this website. God bless you.

This is a continuation of a synopsis of Jesus's teachings in Matthew 24, which began five days ago. Today, we are at the sixth sign signifying the return of Christ, spoken of by Jesus in Matthew 24:9, "Then they will deliver you up to be afflicted and they will kill you; you will be hated of all nations for My name's sake."
According to en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persecution_of_Christians, an estimated 1 million Christians face persecution, particularly in North Korea, Iran, and Saudi Arabia; 75 out of 100 people killed due to religious hatred are Christians. In many Muslim nations throughout the world today, Christians are being executed by Islamic governments for "apostasy." Because so many Muslim nations are declaring religious Jihad, in order to usher in their Mahdi (Muslim messiah), they are killing, dismembering and torturing more Christians today. Muslims are forbidden to convert to Christianity. If they are suspected of converting to Christianity, they are brought to court, tried and sentenced to death for "apostasy."
North Korea: Christians in North Korea suffer more persecution than in any other country in the world, according to persecution.org. Christians are arrested in North Korea, persecuted and imprisoned solely for practicing their faith, worshiping in their homes and having Bible studies.
Sudan: In Sudan, it is estimated that 1.5 million people have been executed by the Janjaweed, the Arab-Muslim militia since 1984.
Nigeria: In the 11 northern states of Nigeria, where Sharia law is enforced, many Christians have been killed and churches have been burned. More than 30,000 Christians have fled their homes in Kano, the largest city in northern Nigeria.
Vietnam: Increased persecution of Christians have led to killings, torture, or imprisonment and forced starvation in Vietnam in recent years.
China: In China, Christians must worship in registered churches, which are not allowed to teach the whole Bible, only selected parts of it. When groups are found conducting home churches or prayer meetings, they are arrested and imprisoned in China.
India: In recent years, there has been a sharp increase of violent attacks on Christians in India.
Philippines: The Moro Islamic Liberation Front and Abu Sayyaf has attacked and killed Christians in the Philippines.
Soviet Union: An extensive education and propaganda campaign was undertaken to convince people, especially the youth, to abandon religious beliefs. Millions of Christians have been killed from the 19th century, on into the 20th century, to create an atheistic state. Tens of thousands of churches have been destroyed. The Soviets' official religious stance has been that of "religious freedom and tolerance," but the state established atheism as the only scientific truth. It is estimated that 500,000 Russian Orthodox Christians were martyred in gulags by the Soviet government, which numbers do not include those tortured or Christians from other denominations that were killed.
Source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persecution_of_Christians
After conducting hours of research throughout the internet, I found there is no way to know for certain the mass numbers of those killed for their Christian faith; but one thing is prevalent and certain, Muslims are killing, dismembering and torturing Christians in vast numbers throughout the world today, with a drastic increase in the last ten years. We need only be reminded of the over 3,000 souls that perished on 9/11 to understand that Christians are being targeted and persecuted in greater numbers today than they have been in the last century. It is true that not everyone killed on 9/11 was a Christian, but that isn't the point. The attack was waged against our predominantly Christian nation. We need to understand that if the greater population in this country were Muslims, 9/11 would have never happened.
The sixth sign spoken of by Jesus in Matthew 24, is further proof that we are living in the last days. These facts have also been noted in previous articles posted on this site: President Barack Obama openly criticized the Bible, Jesus and His Sermon on the Mount, and mocked its passages during his presidential campaign in June 2006; he has ordered that the words "Islamic terrorist" be removed from national security documents; under his administration, FEMA has labeled Christians who believe in end times as potential terrorists; Michelle Obama has said that "the government needs to mold America's children;" and the list of our president's Marxist agenda continues...(too many issues to relate here). The nations are forming a "one world government" and a world dictator, which the Word of God refers to as the Antichrist. Are you saved? Have you received Jesus as your Savior? If not, please visit the How Can I Be Saved page of this website. Your eternal soul depends on your decision about whether or not you accept Jesus as your Savior. God bless you.

IsraelToday.com by Ryan Jones: Some 250 Christian volunteers wrapped up three months of hard labor in the vineyards of Samaria last week and headed to their home countries to raise enough support to come to the aid of Jewish farmers again next year. During the 2011 harvest season, the HaYovel Ministry team (see Israel Today magazine coverage) helped local farmers in communities across Samaria harvest no less than 304 tons of grapes. The assistance is a huge boon to "settler" farmers who regularly see their produce boycotted by a hostile internal community. It was also of enormous benefit to the spiritual lives of the Christians who participated. "The camaraderie and sense of accomplishment gained from participating in modern day fulfillment of prophecy make regular life pale in comparison," wrote Sherri Waller, who together with husband Tommy Waller heads up HaYovel. "The God of creation has called us to cooperate with Him in reestablishing His people in His land. We have seen the prophecies confirmed vine after vine, on the mountains of Samaria." A smaller number of the same volunteers will return in the spring to help the farmers prune their vineyards for the next harvest season. In the meantime, seven passionate young men from the HaYovel team are touring churches around the United States to share what the Lord is doing on the mountains of Samaria. Their message is a firm call to stand with Israel and to take a unique and practical approach to loving and supporting the Jews in these trying days.
Commentary: God said, "I will bless those who bless you, and curse those who curse you, and in you all the families of the earth will be blessed" Genesis 12:3. This is how intensely God loves His people, Israel. The prophet Isaiah foretold of the prosperity of Israel in the latter days and how Israel would provide fruit for the nations, "He will cause those that come of Jacob (Israel) to take root. Israel will blossom and bud and fill the face of the world with fruit" Isaiah 27:6. In 1985, approximately 60,000 hectares (~148,000 acres) of land were being cultivated in Israel and the one time desert wasteland of sand and rock was yielding its own rich crops of fruit, vegetables, cereals and cotton. Israel produces enough fruit for their own 7.6+ million population and they export fruits to many other countries throughout the world as well. Among the 196 nations in the world, Israel has the 24th largest economy in the world! Imagine that. Poor, half dead people, barely walking out of the German concentration camps alive, and now the 24th richest nation among 196 in just 63 years! Isaiah also prophesied, "The Lord will have mercy on Jacob and will yet choose Israel and set them in their own land (occurred in 1948) and strangers will be joined with them and they will cleave to the house of Jacob (Israel)" Isaiah 14:1. He also prophesied, "Strangers will stand and feed your flocks and the sons of the alien will be your plowmen and your vinedressers" Isaiah 61:5. ...and so it has come to pass in our generation. Amen.
