CNN.com (excerpts): New Delhi, India - At least 435 patients, mostly children, have died this year from encephalitis in one of India's most impoverished regions, health officials said. Most of the deaths happened between August and September, according to K P Kushwaha, Chief Pediatrician at BRD Medical College and Nehru Hospital in Uttar Pradesh state's Gorakhpur district. Some 30 - 35 people are being diagnosed daily with the infection in Gorakhpur, he said. The outbreaks are common in the district, near India's border with Nepal. Encephalitis is an inflammation of the brain, primarily caused by food and drink contamination and mosquito bites. The very young and the elderly are more likely to have a severe case, according to the US National Library of Medicine. As many as 500 people died last year in the region from the disease, Kushwaha said. In 2009, India reported 774 fatalities from encephalitis, including 556 in Uttar Pradesh, federal data shows.
Commentary: "Nation will rise against nation, kingdom against kingdom and there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places" Matthew 24:7. There are great numbers of deadly pestilences on the rise in the world today, as the scriptures tell us will come in the last days. It is noteworthy that over 80% of India's population are Hindus. They worship many gods and idols made with hands. We frequently see plagues such as this in countries where people refuse to worship the God of the Bible, the one and only true and living God. The Bible says, "You will not be afraid for the terror by night or for the arrow that flies by day, or for the pestilence that walks in darkness, or for the destruction that wastes at noonday. A thousand will fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you" Psalm 91:5-7. These are promises to God's people, that He will protect us. God hears and answers the prayers of His people, but His ear is not inclined to those who do wickedly: "The eyes of the Lord are over the righteous and His ears are open unto their prayers, but the face of the Lord is against those that do evil" 1 Peter 3:12. "The rest of the men that were not killed by these plagues did not repent of the work of their hands, that they should not worship devils and idols of gold, silver, brass, stone and wood, which cannot see, hear or walk" Revelation 9:20. Ynetnews.com (excerpts): Gilad Shalit is coming home. The prisoner exchange deal signaling the end of Gilad Shalit's five-year Hamas captivity began in the early hours of Tuesday morning (IST), as the Israel Prison Service (IPS) began shuttling the 477 Palestinian prisoners slated to be released as part of the first stage of the deal to their rendezvous points with the Red Cross. Egyptian Consulate officers arrived in Hasharon and Ktziot prisons overnight to monitor the process. The prisoners are being transported to the Kerem Shalom crossing near the Gaza border and the Beitunia crossing near Ramallah, ahead of the actual exchange. The IPS's Nachshon Prisoner Transports Unit is overseeing the convoys. The transport is being held under heavy guard, and according to Israel radio, over 1,000 police officers have been deployed across the convoy's routes to ensure both their safety and public order. Gilad Shalit is expected to be transferred to Rafah crossing at around 6 am, where he will be handed over to the Egyptian mediators, who will transfer him to Sinai. Once in Sinai, Shalit will be placed in the IDF's custody. Parallel to Shalit's release, Israel will release 450 prisoners and 27 female prisoners - 280 of whom were sentenced to multiple life terms for terror offenses. The IPS shuttles will liaise with the Red Cross, which will ensure that the prisoners arrive at their destinations. Some will be allowed to return to the West Bank, and four of them, including Amna Muna, will return to Gaza, an IPS official said. Gilad Shalit's first stop, once back in Israel, will be the Amitai IDF Base, where he will finally contact his family, as well as undergo a medical exam. From there, he will be flown to the Tel Nof Airbase, where he will reunite with his family for the first time in over five years. The Air Force has arranged for special transport for the Shalits to Tel Nof and a special "sterile zone" has been set up on the base to ensure the family's privacy. Shalit is expected to undergo a second medical exam in Tel Nof as well.
Commentary: Hamas kidnapped Gilad Shalit over five years ago and has held him without any contact in person or by mail with his family, which is a violation of international law. The kidnapping to start with was a violation, but the manner in which he has been held by Hamas has been unconscionable and horrific for Gilad and his family. The fact that he is even returning home alive from Hamas captivity is a pure miracle, in that Hamas hates Jews with a vile hatred. They frequently chant they will appear "knocking on the gates of heaven with the skulls of Jews." Their hatred for Jews has wrought all kinds of terror and mayhem to the Israelis. Thousands of people across the globe, and I - for one, have been praying daily for years for Gilad's release and safe return home. God is faithful to his people and He does answer our prayers. Thanks be to God; thanks be to God; thanks be to God! Mmn.com (excerpts): Two new volcanic eruptions were confirmed on Wednesday near Spain's El Hierro Island in the Canaries, where 500 people spent another night outside their homes after being evacuated as a precautionary measure. "I confirm the existence of two points of volcanic eruption at El Hierro," Laura Otero, a spokeswoman for the local authorities told AFP, adding that there were dead fish and a strong odor of sulfur at both sites. The head of emergency services in the Canaries, Juan Manuel Santana, said in a statement that "the two points are located at 2 nautical miles and 1.5 miles southwest of (the village of) La Restinga." The first eruption occurred at a depth of 2,300 feet and the other at a depth of 655 feet. He said the eruptions resulted in two stains on the sea surface where there are dead fish and a strong odor of sulfur. Some 500 residents and tourists were evacuated from the village of La Restinga as a precautionary measure on Tuesday, after a 4.3 magnitude quake the previous day, the first volcanic eruption in the Canaries in 40 years. Monday's eruption was detected 3 miles from the island at a depth of between 1,640 and 3,940 feet beneath the sea. Pointing to the uncertainty over the coming days, authorities said in a statement that they were keeping Restinga on "red alert," while the rest of the island remained on "yellow alert," one notch lower. News.Sky.com (excerpts): Thai authorities have ordered a new evacuation of an industrial park north of the nation's capital, Bangkok, as the economic impact of ongoing floods worsened. The move at the Nava Nakorn industrial estate in Pathum Thani is a big blow for several major companies with operations there including Casio, Saiko, Nestle and Toshiba. The hardest hit firms were Honda and Toyota, which use Thailand as a major production base. Both have been forced to stop all work there due to flooding of their facilities. At least four other major industrial parks have been flooded, leaving upward of 100,000 employees idle and disrupting supply chains, especially in the automotive and electronic industries. The Labor Ministry said that more than 260,000 people had lost jobs and 6,533 businesses nationwide had to close due to floods between October 10 - 12. Thailand's Central Bank last week estimated the total cost of the floods could be 100 billion baht (about 33 billion US $). The nationwide death toll rose to 307, mostly from drowning. Outside the capital, thousands of people remain displaced and hungry residents were struggling to survive in half-submerged towns. On Sunday, the military rescued people from the rooftops of flooded buildings in the swamped city Ayutthaya, one of the country's hardest hit. At the same time, officials were expressing growing optimism that Bangkok would be spared thanks to the city's complex system of flood walls, canals, dykes and underground tunnels that help divert vast pools of runoff south into the Gulf of Thailand.
Commentary: If you will notice in the photo above, a vast majority of the people of Thailand worship Buddha (94.6%). The Word of God has a lot to say about people worshipping idols made with hands and the Bible is full of examples of the consequences of worshipping anything or anyone, other than the true living God of all creation. "The rest of the men that were not killed by these plagues did not repent of the work of their hands, that they should not worship devils and idols of gold, silver, brass, stone and wood, which cannot see, hear or walk" Revelation 9:20. The Word of God is clear, that the nations that worship idols made with hands, such as Buddha, will suffer plagues. This is what is happening. We are living in the last days, friends, and the truth is, the wrath of God is being poured out on much of the world today. These are God's warnings, that judgment is soon coming and everyone will be judged by God for what they have done while living here on earth (2 Corinthians 5:10). "Today is the day of salvation" (2 Corinthians 6:2); tomorrow could be too late. I invite you now to receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Once we leave this body, it is too late to make a decision for salvation.

Jews massacred in Ekaterinoslav
IsraelToday.co.il: Former Israeli Chief Rabbi and current chairman of the Yad Vashem Council, Rabbi Yisrael Meir Lau, suggested last week that the 1941 massacre of 33,771 Jews in Kiev, Ukraine, was a test case for Jewish genocide by the Nazis. Lau put forward the theory during a Jerusalem memorial ceremony marking 70 years since the massacre, during which nearly all the Jews of Kiev were marched into the Babi Yar ravine and butchered. Lau surmised that the Nazis had carried out that atrocious act to measure the level of international protest over the mass killing of Jews. There was, as we now know, very little protest. Just months later, the Nazis met at the Wannsee Conference, and confident that the world cared little about the Jews, kicked off the Holocaust, "The final solution to the Jewish problem." Had the world cried out loudly over the Babi Yar massacre, Lau believes far fewer Jews would have died during World War II. Speaking at the ceremony, Israeli president Shimon Peres, much of whose own family perished in the Holocaust, said he hoped that the world had matured beyond such hatred for the Jews. But the six decade history of the modern State of Israel suggests that it has not. In particular, in each of the major wars Israel has been forced to fight with his neighbors, the international community has remained largely silent, despite the fact that the Arabs' stated goal was to "push the Jews into the sea." The world only spoke up when it became clear that Israel was winning. In other words, in 1948, 1967, and 1973, it appeared that the international community was actually hoping the Arabs would be successful, and only stepped in to impose ceasefires when the Jews gained the upper hand. It would seem the very same indifference that kept the world from responding to the Babi Yar massacre is alive and well in the world today.
Commentary: I can't speak for anyone else, unfortunately, but I am fully aware of this: Israel is God's chosen, always has been, and always will be. If anyone doesn't like it - that's really too bad for them, because they are cursed (those who don't like it) and Israel will never be destroyed (not completely) ever again, according to scriptures. I know what God's Word says. It has all been written down long ago in the scriptures, and it has played out perfectly like Mozart on Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. The fact of the matter is, God said to Abraham, "I will bless those who bless you, and curse those who curse you, and in you all of the families of the earth will be blessed" Genesis 12:3. If you are against Israel, I wouldn't want to be in your shoes for your socks, as my favorite pastor used to say! If you love God Almighty, you love the Jews.

The meager food and water that used to support millions in the Horn of Africa is disappearing rapidly, and families strong enough to flee for survival must travel up to 100 miles, often on foot, hoping to make it to a refugee center, seeking food and aid. Many do not survive the trip. Officials warn that 800,000 children could die of malnutrition across East African nations of Somalia, Ethiopia, Eritrea and Kenya. Commentary: If you read the article below, you already know that President Obama sent US troops to hunt down and kill a so-called "Christian" militant in Central Africa. At the same time, you can read about hundreds of thousands of Africans at risk of starvation in Somalia because Al-Shabaab's Islamic militants have been blocking food relief to the starving in Africa! Does President Obama have a heart? When it comes to Islam and Muslims and their issues maybe his thinking has become impaired. Why on earth would any president of any nation send troops running after a so-called "Christian" militant (true Christians do not kill people or cause terror), while at the same time tens of thousands are dying and hundreds of thousands are suffering and starving to death and millions more are at risk, because the same president did not send any troops to Central Africa to hunt down and kill Al-Shabaab and his band of Islamic terrorists who are blocking aid to the starving? Hello, is anyone home? Jesus said, "I was hungry and you gave me no meat; I was thirsty and you gave me no drink. Then He will say to them, truly I say to you, when you did not give to the least of these, you did not give to me" Matthew 25:42, 45.

WashingtonPost.com (excerpts): President Obama will send about 100 US troops to Uganda and nearby countries to combat the Lord's Resistance Army and kill or capture its leader, Joseph Kony, who has been charged with war crimes for a decades-long campaign against civilians in Central Africa. The initial military contingent numbering about a dozen troops arrived in Uganda on Wednesday and will grow to full strength in coming weeks.
Commentary: I find it interesting that Muslims have been killing, terrorizing and butchering Christians in Africa for years, even to the present time, without a blink of an eye from Obama. Now that some "Christian" militant is on the rampage, he has figured out a way to 1) focus news medial on a "Christian" militant to make Christians look bad, 2) spend more money fighting wars, now that he has to withdraw troops from Iraq. Where is his concern over the millions of Christians killed in Africa in the name of Islam? Why doesn't Obama send help for these pitiful victims, who are butchered constantly by Muslims? Please don't misunderstand, I am not for anyone who calls himself a Christian and who goes around killing people. Nevertheless, I don't think bankrupt America has any money laying around to fight anyone else's wars, other than our own; and again, where is the concern about the millions butchered in Africa by Muslims? 'For your sake we are killed all day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter" Romans 8:36. Women scream after being pepper-sprayed or maced by police You have seen it across the Middle East, in Greece, London, France, and now something has instigated the occupation on Wall Street; which is quickly becoming unruly, unclean, violent and may soon turn into a military situation. There has been some talk and speculation as to who or what group started protests on Wall Street, but there is no doubt in my mind at all. If you hear Nancy Pelosi talk favorably about the brave youth who are taking a stand and how she said, "God bless them," you will know where there encouragement is coming from. President Obama says (while he stares down - is that guilt?), "they are frustrated with the economic situation and they understand that not everyone has been following the rules, and Wall Street is an example of that." His and Nancy Pelosi's words are very encouraging - too encouraging I would say, because of where this is heading; and if it goes crazy and gets out of control, the masses play right into the hands of these SOCIALISTS, who are ready and waiting with their police state to take over the country, in the manner that all SOCIALISTS do, once the people have played into their hands. There is no doubt in my mind who is stirring up the riots, and guess who is going to end up getting hurt? It won't be President Obama or Nancy Pelosi! Things are going to suddenly get ugly and the only ones who will be in trouble, a lot of trouble, are the protesters. Already the NYPD has spent 2 million dollars in overtime policing this mess and there were at least 40 arrests made on Friday alone. This is tragic, because it is deliberate and planned, but there are unwitting participants who are going to find themselves in a heap of trouble, if not tragic circumstances. If you are wise, you will know their game and you will stay clear away from the entrapment on Wall Street, and anywhere else they decide to stir things up. The protesters will not win - watch and see it play out.
You might ask, How can people get help and justice, if they don't protest or do something about the problems? The Word of God says, "Let us come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in the time of need" Hebrews 4:16. God is our source of help, friends; our only source of real help. The Bible also says, "I have been young and now I am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his children out begging for bread" Psalm 37:25. This is one of the many promises made by God to His people, not to just anyone, but to those who trust in Him. Do you want peace? Do you need security for the uncertain days ahead? The Bible also says, "They have great peace who love God's law and nothing will offend (unsettle) them" Psalm 119:165. God is also our defense when we need a defender. I have lived most of my life trusting in God, trusting in God through some of the most difficult times financially in the past. I can tell you; I am a witness to the fact that God will never fail those who trust in Him. I have received cash in the mail when I needed it the most, not knowing who sent it - to this day. That's how faithful God is to His people. I could write for days about just the things God has done for me, miraculously. I invite you to receive God's peace and safety.
