wanganuichronicle.co.nz: The number of prions that perished on the west coast of the North Island in last week's stormy weather could be in the tens of thousands. Though the species was not endangered, the birds might have "taken quite a good hit," said Manawatu/Wanganui Bird Rescue coordinator Dawne Morton. She was kept busy with the birds from Tuesday to Friday last week. They were picked up dead and alive along the length of the coast, from Wellington to North Cape. More than 600 birds were being nursed back to health at Massey University, others by the Conservation Department in the New Plymouth and Wellington Zoo. At Massey, the birds were put in warm water ponds, fed and rewaterproofed. Badly hurt birds were euthanized. The prions' small size put them at particular risk. "These guys lose 20g and they've had it," Ms. Morton said. Recovered birds would be released from a boat, because any freed on the beach were likely to be killed and eaten by the much larger black-backed gulls. Ms. Morton's best guess about last week's storm was that the birds were unable to fish because the storm lasted so long. They became weak from lack of food and were blown onshore. Some landed in the sea and were tumbled about and washed on to beaches. Many of those lost could have been young and inexperienced hunters. Most of the birds were the broadbilled prion species, but there were also fairy prions, Salvin's prions and Antarctic prions. Storms had been known to land seabirds in strange places - Lake Taupo, the top of the Parapara stretch of SH4, albatrosses at Halcombe - but never in such numbers. "We've never had anything like this before," Ms. Morton said.
Commentary: It isn't letting up and the problems with fish and bird deaths are growing by leaps and bounds. The Coming Crisis: Norway - A major bombing at the capital buildings in Oslo, Norway, followed by a mass shooting spree, killing up to 30 at a children's camp indicates that Norway is under a terrorist attack. wafb.com: Prairieville, LA: Hot weather is causing trouble for a Prairieville neighborhood. However, it's not just the heat causing the trouble. People there are dealing with a lake full of dead fish. About 15 houses surround the lake in the Cypress Lake subdivision in Prairieville. The residents like to fish and swim in the water, but a bunch of belly-up fish has put a stop to water fun for now. Fish kills are pretty common in south Louisiana. Wildlife and fisheries agents said high temperatures and shallow waters cause oxygen to evaporate from water, basically suffocating the fish. The sight of a bunch of dead fish can be alarming though. One woman said she's lived on the lake for 12 years and hasn't seen anything like this. LSU lakes, the city park lakes, but I've never seen them in my backyard, explained JoAnn Johnson. Johnson said she and her neighbors started seeing the dead fish over the weekend and more and more have died each day. She said she called Wildlife and Fisheries, who told her not to worry. Wildlife and Fisheries agents say they do not have the resources to investigate private ponds and lakes. If you see a fish kill on a public body of water, however, you should contact the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries immediately.
Commentary: Time and time again I have noticed that government wildlife and fishery agencies are saying these millions and millions of dead fish throughout the globe is "normal die-off," and as in this story, the residents are told "not to worry;" however, in the same stories, the residents frequently say they "have never seen anything like it." There is often a conspiracy by government agencies to keep people "calm, cool and collected - and ignorant in these situations. DailyMail.co.uk: The trial of a suspected 14-year-old American citizen hitman started in Mexico today under tight security. Edgar Jimenez, known as El Ponchis - The Cloaked One - is suspected of the gruesome murders and beheadings of at least seven people. He is believed to have worked as a hitman for Morelos drugs gang, based just outside of Mexico City. The boy was caught late last year as he attempted to flee to the US, having boarded a plane in the city of Cuernavaca. The army said he was with his two sisters, one of whom was reportedly the lover of a cartel boss. They were apparently trying to get to Tijuana on the US border, to then travel to San Diego where their mother lives. One of his sisters, aged 16, was also allegedly involved in the criminal gang. She apparently disposed of her brother's victims by dumping the bodies on streets and freeways, officials said. Another teen sister accompanying them is not suspected of being involved with the cartels. If found guilty, Jimenez faces a sentence of three years - the maximum allowed under Mexican law because of his age. The trial is expected to last about three weeks. A video shot by CNN in December showed the boy being interrogated by Mexican military authorities after his capture. In the video, an interrogator asks, How many have you killed, as Jimenez responds, 'four.' The soldier then asks, How did you execute them? The boy calmly adds, 'I slit their throats.' 'I participated in four executions, but I did it drugged and under threat that if I didn't, they would kill me.' Jimenez and his siblings were living in a poor neighborhood of Jiutepec, a working-class suburb of Cuernavaca, known as a weekend get away for Mexico City residents. The area has an industrial area with Nissan, Unilever and other factories and has rustic single-level concrete homes and some farms. Many youths have been used by drug cartels in their bloody battles against the government and each other, but the story of El Ponchis may be the most shocking. A You Tube video that emerged last year sparked talk of a child hitman by some to be as young as 12. After he was captured, Jimenez said he was kidnapped at the age of 11 and forced to work for the Cartel of the South Pacific, a branch of the splintered Beltran Leyva gang, and that he had participated in at least four decapitations. Mexican newspaper La Razon reported last month that El Ponchis was paid $3,000 for each murder he committed.
Commentary: As I look into the eyes of this child (his crimes are those of an adult, but he is still a 14-year-old child), I see a 'void' in his eyes - no life. I see misery - no hope. How do children go this way? Since when have we ever heard of such goings on? We are truly living in the last days and it is evident, if you just look around yourself. The indicators are spoken of in the news daily. This tragic story reminds me of this scripture, "Know this, that in the last days perilous times will come. Men will be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, covenant breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those who are good, traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God" 2 Timothy 3:1-4.

USGS: A major 6.0 magnitude earthquake hit Solomon Islands on 7/20/11 at 22:04:59 UTC, at a depth of 22.5 km (14 mi).
Commentary: There have been four major (6.0+) earthquakes in the last five days! These major earthquakes are increasing incredibly in volume and apparently, according to the Bible, they will continue to increase in various places, "Nation will rise against nation, kingdom against kingdom, and there will be earthquakes in various places and there will be famines and troubles; these are the beginnings of sorrows" Mark 13:8.

MorungExpress.com: Imphal - Five more cattle have been claimed by the 'mysterious disease" that spread in and around the Makhan village of Manipur's Senapati district, even as the State Veterinary Department still has no clue about the disease. On July 11, Newmai News Network had reported that over 50 cows and buffaloes had been killed by the mysterious disease. A team of officials with the State Veterinary Department led by its joint director visited Makhan village and took stock of the situation on Wednesday, July 13, 2011. While collecting samples required for determining the disease, the team also provided medicines. They also administered injections to the cattle infected by the disease as a step towards containment of the disease. Since that day, the number of cattle claimed by the disease has been reduced, but steps to control the disease is yet to be initiated. There were still apprehensions to kill the cattle in the minds of the villagers, said Athuiliu by phone. He also lamented that officials over the Veterinary Department failed to revisit the village. "We are unhappy with the attitude of the officials when they remain silent without informing us about the disease to date," he said. As no help could be expected from the Veterinary Department, villagers have decided to consult with a veterinary clinic. The are raising funds among themselves to meet the expenditures to be incurred while consulting the clinic, he added. The unknown disease, the villagers believe, is communicable among cattle sharing grazing ground.
Commentary: The spread of new and unidentified diseases among cattle and buffalo are becoming more common throughout various parts of the world. There are other posts on this blog eporting cow deaths in the US and Vietnam in recent months. USGS: A 6.1 magnitude earthquake hit Kyrgyzstan on Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at 19:35:43 UTC, at a depth of 17.8 km (11.1 mi).
Commentary: There have been three major earthquakes (6.0 +) in the last four days. The statistics are increasing rapidly for major quakes throughout the world. "There will be great earthquakes in various places, famines, pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven" Luke 21:11.

NZHerald.co.nz: Beachgoers on the west coast of the lower North Island have been met with the sight of hundreds of dead birds, which perished after being blown ashore by stormy weather. Peter McCallum, the manager of the Kapiti branch of the Wellington SPCA, said they were caring for about 250 exhausted broad-billed prions, the first influx which came in on Monday. Volunteers sent yesterday to Waikanae beach, north of Wellington, found hundreds of dead birds along the coast. "They reported seeing numerous birds in the surf, in the surf line and on the high tide mark, literally hundreds of dead birds. Mr. McCallum had never seen anything like the number of dead birds in his 20 years in the area. "I'm suspecting that there was a big feeding group in one particular area and they've just been caught up in this wind stream." He said he expected to have more than 300 birds by today and hoped about 70% of those could be saved. The plankton-feeding prions would be transferred to Wellington Zoo and released when their condition and the weather allowed. The Department of Conservation biodiversity program manager Peter Simpson said strong winds hammering the lower North Island had blown exhausted sea birds inland. Mr. Simpson said the number of deaths were the worst he had ever encountered and were a result of the long-lasting nature of the storm. "About three days in is when we start getting the birds so weak they get blown inshore, and then it's just exhaustion. They also haven't been able to feed properly because the sea is so rough, but it's mainly exhaustion and battling the wind and the seas." People could take birds to Wellington Zoo or the Massey University Wildlife Center, but most would perish, he said. "The reality is the death rate is going to be quite high." Broad-billed prions are not endangered.
My Comments: "The land will mourn (speaking of the last days before the end of the age) and everyone that dwells in it will languish, with the beasts of the field and the fowls of heaven, yes, the fishes of the sea will also be taken away" Hosea 4:3. Fish and birds dying is a sign of the last days before the return of Christ. There have been record deaths involving fish, birds and even cow deaths throughout the US and Vietnam. These numbers will increase as time grows short. Jesus said, "There will be signs in the sun, moon and in the stars, and distress of nations on the earth with perplexity, the sea and waves roaring" Luke 21:25. Jesus also said, "Watch and pray always that you may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man (Jesus)" Luke 21:36.

FoxNews.com: President Obama Doesn't Know the First Thing About Economics: As the Oscar buzz surrounding actress Meryl Streep keeps growing - thanks to her portrayal of Margaret Thatcher, it's worth remembering one of the real Iron Lady's most famous observations: that any housewife could manage the British economy. President Obama should heed that advice and realize that economy begins at home. Unfortunately, his recent statements on the economy give little reason for hope on that front. The president's press conference on Monday epitomized the "do something" nature of his administration. He wants to do something about....well, everything-from getting more kids into college to fighting global warming (although the latter is less evident these days, at least in public). The trouble is that he thinks he needs more and more of our money to do it, so he wants any budget deal to include tax rises. Let's take the example of college education grants, which the president suggested should be funded by an increase in taxes on millionaires like himself. The president's budget request for 2012 contains an allocation of $36 billion for increased Pell grants for students from poor backgrounds to attend college. That's out of an entire federal budget request of $3.7 trillion, which makes Pell grant expenditure just one percent of the total. Looking at that from the viewpoint of Ms. Thatcher's proverbial housewife, we can compare it to the median household income of about $46,000, which after taxes, is about $3,000 a month. The size of the problem that President Obama singles out as requiring tax increases is equivalent to a household budget shortfall of $30 a month. A competent economic manager should be able to deal with that sort of problem by tightening his or her belt elsewhere. The president's seeming incapability to contemplate this demonstrates just how out of control the federal spending machine is.
My Comments: This is a very astute article put out there by FoxNews.com. I have to slightly disagree with the point, and that is that Obama doesn't know economics. I think he does know exactly what he is doing. Obama's was backed and financed to get in there and do this job and do it right; the socialist-Marxist way! His intention is to bankrupt the nation, causing everyone, but the mega rich, to become dependent on and slaves of the government. There is no other way to bring about the One World Government these elitists want to accomplish, and it is as simple as that. "Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools." Romans 1:22.
