CNBC.com: The Federal Reserve's massive stimulus program had little impact on the US economy besides weakening the dollar and helping US exports, Federal Reserve Governor Alan Greenspan told CNBC Thursday. In a blunt critique of his successor, Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke, Greenspan said the $2 trillion in quantitative easing over the past two years had done little to loosen credit and boost the economy. "There is no evidence that huge inflow of money into the system basically worked," Greenspan said in a live interview. It obviously had some effect on the exchange rate and the exchange rate was a critical issue in export expansion," he said. "Aside from that, I am ill-aware of anything that really worked, not only QE2 but QE1." Greenspan's comments came as the Fed ended the second installment of its bond-buying program, known as QE2, after spending 600 billion. There were no hints of any more monetary easing - or QE3 - to come. Greenspan said he would be surprised if there was a QE3 because "it would continue erosion of the dollar." The former Fed chairman himself has been widely criticized for the low interest rate policy in the early and mid 2000s that many believe led to the 2008 credit crisis. Bernanke, who took over for Greenspan in 2006, began implementing the quantitative easing program in 2009 in an attempt to unfreeze credit and prevent a collapse of the US financial system. The strategy has gotten mixed reviews so far.
Regarding Greece, Greenspan said a default is likely and will "affect the whole structure of profitability in the US" because of this country's large economic commitments to Europe, which holds Greek debt. Europe is also where half the foreign [US] affiliate earnings are generated, he added. "We can't afford a significant drop in foreign affiliate earnings," Greenspan said. Greenspan was also pessimistic about the US deficit talks, saying he didn't think Congress would reach an agreement on raising the debt ceiling by Aug 2 deadline. "We're going to get up to Aug 2 and I think on that night we are not going to have the issue solved," he said. If that happens, he said the US would have to continue paying debt holders or risk major damage in global financial markets. As a result, "we will default on everything else." He added, "At that point, I think we'll all come to our senses." My Comments: Without God Almighty, none of them will ever come to their "senses." "For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, 'He takes the wise in their own craftiness'" I Corinthians 3:19. The very first thing the government would do, if they had any wisdom at all, is get rid of the privately owned Federal Reserve Bank, who prints the government's money, then charges the government interest on the money they print for us. Instead of printing our own money, we are heavily in debt to the Federal Reserve, again - privately owned by big bankers. President Woodrow Wilson signed the Federal Reserve Act on December 23, 1913 - the beginning of the end of US sovereignty. President John F. Kennedy dared sign Executive Order 11110, enabling the US Treasury to print their own silver certificates; this would have effectively critically disabled the big private bankers that are now running the world. Five months after this EO was enacted, they basically did away with JFK - assassinated - end of story. Whatever happened to EO 11110? The silver notes were recalled after Kennedy's assassination and - nothing, zilch. The Federal Reserve went right on printing money and selling it to the US; printing money from nothing - selling it to the US - the US is now bankrupt - we are now owned by big bankers! Now how smart is that? The Bible foretells us that there will be famine and a world-wide economic collapse, which is happening right now. Revelation 6:5-6 "And when he opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see; and I saw a black horse and he who sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand; and I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny and three measures of barley for a penny, but do not hurt the oil and the wine." Bible scholars say that this amount of food was about what one person required each day, and the two pennies was about what it took to feed a person each day, which was also equal to a day's wages. In other words, hyperinflation will become so great that it will cost a person a day's wages for enough food for one person every day. That means you have no other money to pay any other bills besides food, let alone feed your family. According to the Word of God, it is coming. Jesus also told the disciples that these signs would mark His return in the last days, "Nation will rise against nation, kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places" Matthew 24:7. BBC News (excerpts): The oceans are in a worse state than previously suspected, according to an expert panel of scientists. In a new report they warn that ocean life is "at high risk of entering a phase of extinction of marine species unprecedented in human history." They conclude that issues such as over-fishing, pollution and climate change are acting together in ways that have not previously been recognized. The impacts, they say, are already affecting humanity. The panel was convened by the International Program on the State of the Ocean (IPSO), and brought together experts from different disciplines, including coral reef ecologists, toxicologists, and fisheries scientists. Its report will be formally released later this week. "The findings are shocking," said Alex Rogers, IPSO's scientific director and professor of conservation biology at Oxford University. As we considered the cumulative affect of what mankind does to the oceans, the implications became far worse than we had individually realized. "We've sat in one forum and spoken to each other about what we're seeing, and we've ended up with a picture showing that almost right across the board we are seeing changes that are happening faster than we'd thought, or in ways that we didn't expect to see for hundreds of years." These "accelerated" changes include melting of the Greenland and Arctic ice sheets, sea level rise and release of methane trapped in the sea bed.
Fast Changes: "The rate of change is vastly exceeding what we were expecting even a couple of years ago," said Ove Hoegh-Guldberg, a coral specialist from the University of Queensland in Australia. "So if you look at almost everything, whether it's fisheries in temperate zones or coral reefs or Arctic sea ice, all of this is undergoing changes, but at a much faster rate than we had thought." However, more worrying than this, the team noted, are the ways in which different issues act synergistically to increase threats to marine life. Some pollutants, for example, stick to the surfaces of tiny plastic particles that are now found in the ocean bed. This increases the amounts of these pollutants that are consumed by bottom-feeding fish. Plastic particles also assist the transport of algae from place to place, increasing the occurrence of toxic algal blooms - which are also caused by the influx of nutrient-rich pollution from agriculture land. In a wider sense, ocean acidification, warming, local pollution and overfishing are acting together to increase the threat to coral reef so much so that three-quarters of the world's reefs are at risk of severe decline. Life on earth has gone through "five mass extinction events" caused by such things as asteroid impacts; and it is often said that humanity's combined impact is causing a sixth such event. The IPSO report concludes that it is too early to say definitively, but the trends are such, that it is likely to happen, they say, and far faster than any of the previous five. "What we are seeing at the moment is unprecedented in the fossil record - the environmental changes are much more rapid," Professor Rogers told BBC News. "We've still got most of the world's biodiversity, but the actual rate of extinction is much higher [than in past events] - and what we face is certainly a globally significant extinction event." Levels of CO2 being absorbed by the oceans are already far greater than during the great extinction of marine species 55 million years ago (during the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum), it concludes.
Blue Planet: The report's conclusions will be presented at the UN headquarters in New York this week, when government delegates begin discussions on reforming governance of the oceans. IPSO's immediate recommendations include: stopping exploitative fishing now, with special emphasis on the high seas where currently there is little effective regulation; mapping and then reducing the input of pollutants including plastics, agricultural fertilizers and human waste; making sharp reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.
My Comments: We certainly shouldn't pollute our oceans and there is a need to take care of the beautiful landscape and resources God has given us. What scientists do not take into consideration is the Word of God, which already tells us that because of man's wickedness, the earth will languish, "Therefore, the land will mourn and everyone that dwells in it will languish, with the beasts of the field, the fowls of heaven; yes, the fishes of the sea will also be taken away" Hosea 4:3. Zephaniah 1:3 also says, "I (God) will consume man and beast; I will consume the fowls of heaven and the fishes of the sea and the stumblingblocks with the wicked, and I will cut off man from off the land, saith the Lord." God's judgment is being poured out on the earth, which is also a sign of the return of the Lord. Jesus said, "When you see these things come to pass, then look up and lift up your heads, for your redemption is near" Luke 21:28.

SeeTell.jp: We have heard reports over the past week that food shortages are occurring in parts of North Korea. From the Chosunilbo: Hundreds of people clashed with security forces in the North Korean town of Sinuiju on the border with China on Friday, a source in the Stalinist country said Wednesday. The military was deployed to quell the demonstration, leaving some protesters wounded. The source said police officers cracking down on traders in a market in Sinuiju after the public holidays marking leader Kim Jong-il's birthday beat one of them unconscious. The victim's family protested and many other traders went along to support them. When it looked as though other people might join the traders, security agents and military troops moved in. Rumor has it that four or five people were killed in the resulting clashes, but no details of civilian casualties are known.
CBS News: Severe food shortages are forcing some North Koreans to forage for wild grasses and herbs, and is causing alarming malnutrition among children, U.S. based aid groups who recently visited the reclusive country reported Wednesday. Seven experts from five nongovernment agencies - Christian Friends of Korea, Global Resource Services, Mercy Corps, Samaritan's Purse and World Vision - conducted a food needs assessment between February 8-15 at North Korea's request. They were granted extraordinary access to the provinces of North Pyongan, South Pyongan, and Changang, visiting 45 sites including hospitals, orphanages, homes, cooperative farms and warehouses. "The team observed children suffering from acute malnutrition, as well as evidence of stunting, wasting, hunger-induced listlessness," the statement said. If there was ever a country that needed a coup, it has to be North Korea.
My Comments: One article I read recently, corresponding with the photo above, reported that North Koreans were resorting to boiling grass and tree bark for food. Asian countries suffer the highest rate of famine in the world by far (see previous post for statistics). By all indications, I would say North Korea is suffering famine right now. You know it has to be bad for this secretive dictatorial government to ask aid organizations for help. The Washington Post: Footage shot inside of North Korea has revealed that the country could be on the verge of a famine, showing filthy, homeless and orphaned children begging for scraps and soldiers stealing food from rice sellers. The video was shot over a period of several months by an undercover North Korean journalist who smuggled the footage out to China and could face the death penalty. It was obtained by Australian Broadcasting Corp this week. In the video, young children blackened with dirt beg for food, including an eight-year-old boy who tells the reporter, "My father died and my mother left me. I sleep outdoors." The boy is one of many orphans in the country whose parents died of starvation or forced labor camps. The army too is starting to go hungry, with one soldier saying, he estimates half of the soldiers are malnourished. The state no longer has any rations to give them. In the video, a party official demands a donation of rice from a stallholder, who protests that his business is bad. "Shut up," the official says, "Don't offer excuses." ABC speculates that the fact that even the army is starving shows that Kim Jong-il could be losing his grip. The rampant corruption in the country also becomes apparent in footage of North Koreans toiling over a private railway track for Kim Jong-un, son of the country's leader Kim Jong-il and heir apparent. Soon, 27-year-old Jong-un may be presiding over a country of starving serfs. North Korea had a famine in the late 1990s that killed 2 million people, according to ABC.
My Comments: According to WorldHunger.org, there are 925 million hungry people in the world, broken down as follows: 578 million in Asia and the Pacific; 239 million in Sub-Saharan Africa; 53 million in Latin America and the Caribbean; 37 million in the Near East and North Africa; 19 million in developed countries. These 2010 statistics constitute almost one-sixth of the world's population; but with storms and floods having ruined crops last year and this year, the situation is worse. The Bible tells us that in the last days there will be famine, "There will be great earthquakes in various places, famines, pestilences, and fearful sights and great signs from heaven" Luke 21:11.

PatriotActionNetwork.com (I am posting excerpts from this article dated 1/22/11, because there are still many people who have not yet heard about the RFID chip implants associated with the new healthcare bill [you can view videos regarding the chip on the News Videos page of this website): And now we come to it. On Sunday, March 21, 2010, the Senate Helathcare Bill HR3200 was passed and signed into law the following Tuesday. Like I said before, there are a legion of horrible and just plain evil aspects to this bill and I'm sure you've heard a lot about them by now. I do not want to discount them, but what cannot be missed here is that this new law now opens a prophetic door on a magnitude not seen since the reformation of Israel. This new law requires an RFID chip implanted in all of us. This chip will not only contain your personal information with tracking capability, but it will also be linked to your bank account. And get this, page 1004 of the new law (dictating the timing of this chip) reads, and I quote, "Not later than 36 months after the date of the enactment." It is now the law of the land that by March 23, 2013, we will all be required to have an RFID chip underneath our skin and this chip will be linked to our bank accounts, as well as have our personal records and tracking capability built into it.
HR3200 section 2521, page 1001, paragraph 1.
The Secretary shall establish a national medical device registry (in this subsection referred to as the "registry") to facilitate analysis of postmarket safety and outcomes data on each device that - "is or has been used in or on a patient" and is - "a class III device;" or "a class II device that is implantable, life-supporting or life-sustaining."
A class II implantable device is an "implantable radio frequency transponder system for "patient identification and health information." The purpose of a class II device is to collect data in medical patients such as "claims data, patient survey data, standardized analytic files that allow for the pooling and analysis of data from disparate data environments, electronic health records, and any other data deemed appropriate by the Secretary."
Going back to what we just looked at, the creation of the National Medical Device Registry in section 2521, page 1002 line 5
In developing the registry, the Secretary shall...
And the law continues on with a laundry list of items that the Secretary must do in the process of creating this registry. In this laundry list of items to do, line 17 subparagraph B: "validating methods for analyzing patient safety and outcomes data for multiple sources and for linking such data with the information included in the registry as described in subparagraph (A).
Going back to subparagraph A [right above subparagraph B, it says, "including in the registry, in a manner consistent with subsection (f), appropriate information to identify each device described in paragraph (1) by type, model, and serial number or other unique identifier.
Don't be confused by intentional obfuscating and skillful wording. This law first creates the National Device Registry and then immediately lists all the tasks that the Secretary of State will have to do in the process of creating this registry. The very first two items in the list mandates that the Secretary first gives a unique identification to each of the items listed in paragraph 1 which is: "a class III device or a class II device that is implantable."
My Comments: For years the Builderbergs, Council on Foreign Relations and the Federal Reserve have been trying to figure out a way to implement the "chip" without arousing all of the Christians, who would adamantly object "the mark of the beast!" Well, now they have come up with an idea to implement a cashless society through the guise of healthcare. These facts are true. I read the proposed healthcare bill before it was passed last March 2010, and I read the particulars concerning the "registry" and implementation of the class II and class III devices myself. The "Secretary" referred to within the healthcare bill is the Secretary of State, whose department is responsible for implementation and enforcement of the healthcare bill. More information has been placed into this website about the RFID chip since the healthcare bill passed last year. Some information was placed into the Healthcare page of this website, as well as the Blog News and the News Videos pages since last year. You may want to research these pages for more information about the chip; it is for real and it is coming soon. Unbeknownst to you, it has been in the making for many years. This will be linked to the upcoming "mark of the beast" (Revelation 13:16, "He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or their foreheads.") and it is something I would never receive if my very life depended on it. The Bible tells us that anyone who receives the mark, or the number of his name, will be cast into hell forever (Revelation 14:9-11).

Saturday, June 25, marked the fifth anniversary of the abduction of Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit by Gaza-based Palestinian terrorist forces. Shalit was captured during a daring cross-border raid by the terrorists into southern Israel. Two other young soldiers were killed and five more were wounded. The attack, and many others like it, were perpetrated by Palestinian groups despite the fact that just one year earlier, Israel had fully surrendered Gaza to the Palestinians. During his captivity, the Hamas aligned terrorists holding him have denied Gilad Shalit the most basic rights guaranteed by the Geneva Conventions. The heartbreaking scenario has been a point of bitter political debate within Israel, and the five year anniversary only exacerbated the situation. Shalit's understandably frustrated family on Saturday chained themselves to the fence outside Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's official residence in Jerusalem. Despite the fact that Shalit was abducted during former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's tenure, the Shalits blame Netanyahu's refusal to meet terrorist demands for their son's continued captivity. "The weakness and stubbornness that Netanyahu has shown in this process is a danger to Gilad's life and it's a danger to the values of Israel," Gilad's father, Noam Shalit, told those who had come out to support the family. Netanyahu told Sunday's weekly cabinet meeting that he has accepted a German prisoner exchange proposal, and is waiting to see if it is accepted by Hamas, but chances are slim. Hamas has demanded that Israel free thousands of jailed terrorists in exchange for Shalit. Many of those terrorists have murdered Israeli Jews and would certainly try to do so again if they won their freedom. There is precedence behind Netanyahu's concerns. Over the past decade-and-a-half Israel has freed thousands of Palestinian terrorists in goodwill gestures to the Palestinian Authority and in other prisoner exchanges. Those freed terrorists have gone on to kill no fewer than 177 Israelis, according to a survey by the Almagor Terror Victims Association. While every Israeli wants to see Gilad Shalit freed and none can imagine having to live through the nightmare that the Shalit family is enduring, many Israelis do not believe it is fair to risk the lives of many to save one; and there is no guarantee that even if Israel met Hamas's demands in full that Gilad would be returned alive.
Three years ago, Israel freed many Lebanese and Palestinian terrorists, including the notorious Samir Kuntar, in exchange for IDF reservists Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev, who were abducted along Israel's northern border by Lebanon's Hizballah terrorist militia; but the joy most Israel's felt over their boys finally coming home turned to horror and sorrow when they realized Ehud and Eldad were returning in coffins. Careful to maintain the ploy used effectively by Hizballah (pretending that its dead Israeli captives are still alive), Hamas at the weekend rejected a demand by the International Red Cross for a sign of life from Gilad Shalit. Meanwhile, Israeli officials announced last week that they will be downgrading conditions jailed Palestinian terrorists currently enjoy. Lt.-Gen. Aharon Franco, head of the Israel's Prison Service, told the Israeli newspaper Ma'ariv that Israel will continue to abide by international humanitarian law regarding prisoners, but will start to remove all services and luxuries that are not required by law. Currently, Palestinian prisoners in Israel receive about $350.00 per month with which to buy food, candy, cigarettes and other goods at the prison canteen; are very well fed in general; are allowed many hours of television and recreation time every day; and are permitted to take high school and college courses. These terrorists live in "one big summer camp" courtesy of the Israeli taxpayer, one prison official told the newspaper. In tremendously hypocritical fashion, Hamas leader Mahmoud al-Zahar blasted Israel for its decision to remove some of these perks, calling the move a "brutal breach of international and humanitarian law."
My Comments: Israeli citizens only resist Hamas and Hizballah attacks by occasionally firing back across the borders that are breached by these terrorists on a consistent basis; by constant missile and terrorist attacks in the way of bombing, firing, brutalization and kidnapping, just to name a few. It wouldn't do Hamas or Hizballah any good to mess with me because I would have dropped nukes on them all a long time ago and wiped them off of the face of the map! Yes, if I had the opportunity, I would annihilate the lot of them, because this is the only way Israel is going to get peace from their constant attacks and terrorism. You say there would be innocent lives lost? This happens in war; it is unfortunate, but the consequence of living among those who are terrorizing others. Yes, Gilad would fall with them, but he may not be alive (or want to be alive under the conditions he is in) anyway. I tell you in all honesty that if I were being held by these terrorists, I would beg someone to throw a bomb on us, just to destroy the devils holding and torturing me. This is exactly why, when Jesus returns, He will have blood on his garments and He will be holding a sword. The Muslim nations surrounding Israel have mistreated God's elect in such a manner, and have divided His land, to the point that the Lord Himself is going to slaughter them with His sword once and for all (Ezekiel 38-39 and Revelation 19).

AccuWeather.com (excerpt): Fires threatening Los Alamos and many other areas in the Southwest are to be driven by another round of strong winds this week. A storm rolling onshore from the Pacific will cause southwest winds to kick up Tuesday, with the worst conditions during the day Wednesday. During the height of the strong wind episode, gusts can reach or exceed 40 mph, causing existing fires to spread downwind a mile in a matter of minutes.
My Comments: The US, as well as Russia, are experiencing record-breaking fires this year. The Word of God tells us (concerning the last days) in Acts 2:19, "I will show wonders in heaven above and signs in the earth beneath, blood, fire and vapor of smoke." We are certainly seeing the fire and smoke right now; the blood, as in bloodshed, may allude to what's happening in the Middle East. I believe this scripture is going to have many applications, such as the numerous volcanoes erupting recently as well.

Sunstar.com (excerpts): Manila - Some 3.8 tons of dead milkfish (bangus) and tilapia have been recorded from 38 fish cages operated by 18 fish farmers in Barangay Leviste, Balakikong and Berinayan, all in Laurel, Batangas Thursday morning. The Department of Agriculture's Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) reported. BFAR Director Asis Perez meanwhile expressed optimism that the reduction of fish mortality in Taal Lake would continue as a result of interventions undertaken by local government units, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Task Force Taal Lake. The Taal Lake Task force has meanwhile vowed to continue the dismantling of illegal fish cage structures. One thousand more fish cages have to be removed it said, as only 6,000 structures should be permitted to operate in the designated aquaculture zones of Taal Lake.

The Coming Crisis: Dutch authorities were slaughtering thousands of chickens at a poultry farm in central Netherlands after an outbreak of a bird flu variety there, an agriculture ministry spokesman said. Bird flu has been discovered at a poultry farm with some 47,000 chickens in Creil, in the central Flevoland province," Murco Mijnlieff said, adding it was believed to be an H7 low-pathogenic variety. "The farm is being cleaned up and the chickens are being killed as a result of the outbreak," Mijnlieff told AFP. The outbreak was discovered earlier this week when the farmer noticed a high number of chickens being ill and a lower egg production. Tests were done, confirming bird flu, Mijnlieff said. Three other farms in the area were being monitored and authorities have introduced a 3 kilometer (1.8 mile) radius transport ban on poultry, poultry eggs and poultry waste.
My Comments: Here is just another food source, among so very many, that are being destroyed all around the world. There are more reported fish deaths and this has been going on since the beginning of the year, not to mention that tens of thousands of acres of crops destroyed in floods and storms throughout the US and the world. People aren't realizing it yet, but the food supply is being critically diminished and bee colony die-offs are continuing at an alarming rate each year. One third of our food supply relies on bee pollination. Experts have no idea why the bees are dying (ABC News /Technology). I can tell you why they are dying; I can tell you why we are experiencing record storms, record tornadoes, record floods, just about record breaking everything. The Bible tells us that these things will take place before the coming of the Lord, "Nation will fight against nation, kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines, pestilences and earthquakes in various places" Matthew 24:7. God's people will escape His wrath against the nations that forget God, "God has not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ" 1 Thessalonians 5:9. "The heavens and earth which exist now, by the Word of God are kept in store, reserved unto fire until the judgment day and destruction of ungodly men" (Christians are not included in this judgment against "ungodly men") 2 Peter 3:7.

USGS: A 6.4 earthquake hit the North Coast of Papua, Indonesia today at 12:16:39 UTC, at a depth of 20.6 km (12.8 mi). There are no reports of injuries or casualties at this time.
My Comments: Matthew 24:7 "Nation will rise against nation, kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines, pestilences and earthquakes in various places." 1 Thessalonians 5:3 "When they say 'peace and safety,' then sudden destruction will come on them, as travail on a woman with child, and they will not escape." The Word of God tells us here that the destruction will come suddenly. We are experiencing turbulent times right now, some of which are described during the seven-year tribulation period, so that should give us an idea of how very close we are to the return of the Lord.
