Fox News: A human rights group has called on Iran to cancel the sentence of blinding a man who was convicted of throwing acid in a woman's face, the Daily Telegraph reports. A court sentenced Majid Mohavedi to have acid dripped into his eyes in retribution for pouring acid in Ameneh Bahrami's face in 2004 after she spurned his offers of marriage. She was left blinded from the attack. Amnesty International is calling for a halt to the sentence, saying its too harsh. Regardless of how horrific the crime suffered by Ameneh Bahrami, being blinded with acid is a cruel and inhuman punishment amounting to torture. An Amnesty International spokesman told the Daily Telegraph. Iran has postponed Saturday's blinding sentence of Mohavedi, Reuters reported. Bahrami wants the sentence to be carried out. The verdict is completely legal and I would like to carry it out, she told the Telegraph. She has undergone several operations since the attack, which left her severely disfigured. Under Iran's Islamic law (Sharia law) retribution is permitted in cases of bodily harm. The Iranian Supreme Court approved the sentence in February 2009. According to the sentence issued by the court, ten drops of sulfuric acid will be dropped into each of Majid's eyes. The sentence was to be carried out today, May 14, 2011, but has been postponed.
My Comments: According to the LandInfo Report on Iranian honor killings (2009), 35% of all killings in the capital of Greater Tehran within a six month period were caused by husbands (honor) killing their wives. The United Nations is such a mockery of justice and a literal waste of time and money, yes the United Nations itself, because they have elected Iran to sit on their Commission for Women's Rights, if you can believe that! Of course, that is not their only problem by far.

Associated Press: Cairo - An angry mob attacked a group of mainly Christian protesters, who were demanding drastic measures to heal religious tension amid a spike in violence, leaving 65 people injured, officials said Sunday. The Christian protesters have been holding their "sit-in" outside the state television building in Cairo for nearly a week, following deadly Christian-Muslim clashes that left a church burned and 15 people dead. More than 100 people rushed into the sit-in area, lobbing rocks and fire bombs from an overpass and charging toward the few hundred protesters sleeping in the area. Vehicles were set on fire and fires burned in the middle of the street. Police and army troops fired into the air to disperse the crowd and a tree was set on fire under the overpass. The security official who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media, said the attackers had returned to avenge an earlier scuffle with the protesters who prevented a motorist from going through the area. A fight ensued and the motorists fired blank rounds. The protesters chased the motorist and beat him badly. Medics said 65 were injured in Sunday's melee, two in critical condition. The security official said at least 15 of the riot instigators were arrested. Alfred Raouf, a witness at the scene, said armored vehicles later blocked traffic and pedestrians from going down from the bridge toward the protest area. The number of protesters at the sit-in shrunk, but those remaining insisted the strike would continue as their area was cordoned off by the security, Raouf said.
My Comments: You have to admire these Christians who, faced with the very threat of death, continue to make a stand for their religious freedoms in Egypt. If Christians would have taken the same stand when God and prayer were kicked out of the public schools, this nation wouldn't be in the mess it is in today! I do not believe any of the Christian protesters beat a motorist. It is common for Muslims to lie about Christians and their activities in these Muslim nations.

The Sacramento Bee: Ashville, NC - Doctors say that Billy Graham is responding well to antibiotics, as he recovers from pneumonia, but he is still to weak to leave a North Carolina hospital. Merrell Gregory with Mission Hospital in Asheville said Saturday the 92-year-old evangelist remains in fair condition and will spend another night in the hospital. Gregory said the overnight nurse who cared for Graham called him "sharp as a tack" and said they talked about her late grandfather, who used to work for the preacher. Graham entered the hospital on Wednesday after suffering from sweating, coughing and difficulty breathing. Gregory said doctors have not determined when Graham might be able to return to his home in the North Carolina mountains.

In fact, 32 earthquakes have shaken the earth on a lower scale today, as of 1:37:59 UTC time.

Haaretz, Israel: At an Independence Day reception held at the President's residence, the President, Prime Minister, Defense Minister and Chief of Staff were all asked to sing a song via live broadcast with vocalists who were on hand. Defense Minister Ehud Barak chose, "I Am Here," the song by Haim Hefer and Dubi Seltzer, made famous by Yahoram Gaon. "I return from an unsown land, I return from 1,000 incarnations," sang Barak with Harel Skaat. "I am the man who always returns, returns." Like the protagonist of the song, Barak is preparing for his big comeback. All indications reveal that Barak is planning on a return to the Prime Minister's Office, and believes he has a good chance of succeeding Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. He is preparing the groundwork. Here are three examples: First, the wide-ranging interview he gave to Haaretz, in which he addressed tough questions about the public's contempt for him, his wealth and the exclusive apartment in the Akirov Towers. Second, the speech he delivered on the eve of Independence Day at the annual Defense Ministry Party, during which time he called upon Netanyahu to present a diplomatic plan that includes withdrawal from the West Bank, thereby preparing his excuse to escape from the government. Last, the founding conference held yesterday for the straw party Atzmout, which he created and on behalf of which he promises to run in the next elections. Ehud Barak? Come back? This insufferable man who scores zilch in public opinion polls and always quarrels with those around him? The man who assumes official positions with great promise, and ends up a big disappointment? The flaccid sidekick to Netanyahu, who talks with him a lot and ignores his advice? Yes, that very same Barak; because only Barak provides an alternative to the don't-give-an-inch policy of the Likud and Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman - a proposal backed by experience, charisma and a convincing depiction of strategic reality. If indeed, the diplomatic tsunami Barak is warning about rolls in and Israel is condemned and isolated internationally because of its refusal to leave the territories and establish a Palestinian state there, the public will seek an alternative to the right-wing government's "Masada and Betar" policy. If he plays his cards right, Barak will be there to draw the winning ace. He has no party and he has no supporters, the skeptics will say. That is true, but immaterial. The historical leaders Barak admires - Winston Churchill, Charles de Gaulle, Moshe Dayan - were called upon to save their homelands during times of great distress because of their personalities and experience, not because of the number of registered voters they attracted or party machinations. All three of them skipped back and forth among parties, depending on the mood of the moment, ignoring their platforms and institutions. Ariel Sharon can also be added to the list. When he was called to the flag, the political system lined up behind him and public opinion soared in the blink of an eye from loathing to admiration. This could also happen to Ehud Barak.
My Comments: The Word of God tells us that Jerusalem will be split and a seven year peace treaty will be made between Israel and Palestinians. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has already affirmed this will not happen on his watch. Prime Minister Netanyahu has too much of the fear of God in him and a great regard for the sanctity of Jerusalem to promote such a thing; not so with Barak. Barak is a "kept man" and he has already advised Prime Minister Netanyahu to prepare to relinquish the West Bank, so he has made his position known to the radicals. It is obvious Barak is on the far left and just the man to help effect the division of God's land. From the photo shot above, it seems Barack Obama has found a "kindred spirit" in Barak. You can bet Barack Hussein Obama did not keep Barak waiting on him for dinner. Hmmm, Barack and Barak, coincidence? Where there is an evil will, Satan will find a way.

Israel Today: Islamic countries, some with sizable Christian minorities, are witnessing revolutions, which on the surface seem to display a desire by the peoples of these countries for genuine democracy, something only to be found outside the Middle East, except for Israel. The story begins with an economic trigger of $147 a barrel for oil in 2008, leading to the near collapse of the world economy. With this near collapse of the world economy, the barrel of oil dropped back down to $30, even if for only a few days, and then slowly began to climb back, hovering now around the $100 mark. Whether the world economy recovers or not, we all know that food prices have gone through the roof as a result of this greed. Higher oil prices mean higher food prices. Food prices will continue to spiral upwards and starvation will increase in many more places. When a Tunisian fruit and vegetable vendor immolates himself after a humiliating arrest that included being slapped in the face by a female officer and having his produce confiscated, ostensibly for not having a license (or paying a bribe), the word got out quickly, thanks to mass online media like Google, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, and massive riots ensued. The corruption, the lack of employment, the lack of freedom and democracy led these people in the Middle to want and demand more, primarily what is to be found in the West and Israel, where there is work, democracy and food. These revolutions spread to Egypt, Libya, Yemen, Syria, Bahrain and other countries, and threaten to spread elsewhere as well, such as Saudi Arabia, Morocco, and perhaps even Iran. The Egyptian revolution is a case in point. Christians and Muslims demonstrated together in Tahrir Square and other places, calling for the overthrow of the Mubarak regime in hope of a better future. The Mubarak regime suffered from the same corruption and elitist domination of the economy by certain chosen groups. US President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton praised the "democratic revolution" in Egypt, as they are now doing in Libya. When the US administration was warned of the dangers of the Muslim Brotherhood, Secretary Clinton's response was, "They are only a 30% minority." The problem is that throughout the Middle East, the governments are usually controlled by the minority, not the majority. Hitler came to power in Germany in January of 1933 with only 30% of the German democratic vote. Khomeini in Iran came to power in 1979, leading a wall to wall coalition of democratic forces, but in the end, it was his fanatic group of fundamentalist Shi'ites that eliminated all the other groups, leaving only Khomeini's group in power. Today, the Egyptian Army, in partnership with the Muslim Brotherhood are now the ruling forces. There should be no doubt that the agenda in Egypt has never been for democracy, nor is it now. On the contrary, the Islamic motto is: "We kill the Jews on Saturday and we kill the Christians on Sunday." Now that there are no more Jews in Egypt (Saturday people), the Muslims say, "We will go for the Sunday people (Christians)." There is no doubt that the condition of the Coptic Egyptian minority is indeed dire. Women are being kidnapped, raped and forced to marry Muslim men, who can have multiple wives. When Christians protest about this, the Muslims riot and kill the Christians. Churches are being burned down and Christians gunned down. My fear is that the Egyptian Coptic community faces imminent and massive ethnic "cleansing," if not outright Holocaust at the hands of the Muslims. In Syria, another country ruled by a minority, this time a pro-Iranian 10% Alawite minority, another volcano is about to explode. The Sunni population of 80% is seeking democracy, or rule of the majority of the people. The Christian population is about 10% and, until now, has been protected by the Alawites; but if Bashar Assad and his regime fall from power, the Sunnis led by the same Muslim Brotherhood as in Egypt, will decimate both the Alawites and the Christians, thus terminating the Christian presence in Syria and, by extension, the Christians in Lebanon. We have already seen how the Sunni/Shi'ite struggle in Iraq killed Christians and forced them to flee to Syria. Now this is about to happen in Syria. Unfortunately, the Christian world in the West is silent about this, as are most of the churches. It doesn't appear that anyone in the Christian world is saying or doing anything about the slaughter of Christians in Africa. As the fundamentalist Muslim Brotherhood takes over in Egypt and Syria, as it already has in Turkey and Gaza, I believe we are witnessing the creation of a Sunni Caliphate that will soon be surrounding Israel as well.
My Comments: You can believe that with the other vital prophecies having been fulfilled, such as the return of Israel as a nation and the recapturing of Jerusalem by the Jewish state of Israel, this is the preparation of the upcoming "Gog and Magog" battle spoken of in Ezekiel 38. It foretells of the Muslim nations surrounding Israel and marching against him in war. I believe the seven year peace treaty, spoken of in Daniel 9:27, will result from the uprising. We are so very near the End of the Age, people of God. Are you ready? When we "see these things happen, we are to look up, for our redemption draws nigh" Luke 21:28.

Global Post: People around the world are preparing for what many expect to be Judgment Day, May 21, 2011. Harold Camping, a preacher from Oakland, CA, predicted the second coming of the Lord will take place on May 21. He said that at about 6 pm on May 21, about 2% of the world's population will be raptured to heaven, and every one else is going to hell. Camping 89, apparently has great public relations skills. He has billboards up all around the United States and is often heard on the radio. Camping's California-based Christian group, Family Radio, has sent travelling caravans of believers around the globe. The group sends out banners informing people of the upcoming Judgment Day. Donations from listeners to the Family Radio have enabled the group to broadcast its message of Judgment Day. Camping has programs in 48 languages, has followers around the globe and has radio stations in Russia, Turkey and South Africa. After 70 years of studying the Bible, he claims to have developed a system that uses mathematics to interpret prophecies hidden in it. He says the world will end on May 21, because that will be 772,500 days from 1 April AD 33, which he believes was the day of the crucifixion. The figure 722,500 is important, he said, because you get it by multiplying three holy numbers (5, 10 and 17) together twice. "When I found this out, I tell you, it blew my mind." Camping told New York Magazine that he is certain May 21 is absolutely the day. He said God has given so much information in the Bible about this, so many proofs, and so many signs that we know it is absolutely going to happen without any question at all.
My Comments: Most Christians already know that the end is very near, because of the prophecies fulfilled in the Bible, which point to the End of the Age, according to the Old Testament prophets and the words of Jesus in Matthew 24 and other passages. The world will not end when the rapture takes place, because the scriptures tell us that after Christ and His saints return to earth and destroy Israel's enemies, He (Christ) will rule and reign on the earth for 1,000 years, before the earth's elements are "melted with fervent heat," and then the New Jerusalem comes down out of heaven (Revelation 19, 20, 21). This is what the Bible says and it is contrary to Camping's prediction that the world will end on May 21. More importantly, Jesus Himself said that "No man knows the day or the hour, no man, not even the angels of heaven, but the Father knows only" Matthew 24:36. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the Lord returned this month of May; His coming is imminent. However, I'm convinced it won't happen on May 21st, otherwise, our Savior would be a liar. So, unfortunately for Mr. Camping, Christ could come at any moment, but it will not likely happen on May 21; God doesn't lie. When people, even if they are sincere, go about setting dates, it brings such a reproach to the name of Christ among unbelievers. We, as Christians, can forgive those who make zealous mistakes, but it brings about scoffing and ridicule from the unsaved and for that reason, it is very disappointing, to say the least, when this happens. Lord, come quickly!

Israel Today: Damascus-based Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal this week warned Israel that it has one more year to recognize an independent Palestinian state. If Israel fails to do so, "Hamas will add new cards to the resistance," Mashaal told a group of young Egyptians who took part in the recent overthrow of dictator Hosni Mubarak. Palestinian news agency Ma'an further quoted Mashaal as saying the Palestinian state Israel recognizes must include 100 percent of Judea, Samaria, and the entire eastern half of Jerusalem; and this must come about via a unilateral surrender to Arab demands by Israel, as Mashaal and Hamas, which last week signed a reconciliation agreement with the regime of Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas, continue to insist they will not negotiate with the Jewish state. Israeli leaders say the reconciliation agreement and the possible formation of a unity government including Hamas and Abbas's Fatah faction has effectively killed all chances of a bilateral peace agreement. Israelis also argue that the deal is further evidence of the true goals of Abbas and his allegedly "moderate" leadership. Many Americans agree with that sentiment. Last week, 27 US senators sent a letter to President Barack Hussein Obama demanding that American financial aid to the Palestinian Authority be halted if Hamas is brought back into the government. "It is imperative for you to make clear to Abbas that Palestinian Authority participation in a unity government with an unreformed Hamas will jeopardize its relationship with the United States, including its receipt of US aid," wrote the senators. All Republican senators and about half of Democratic senators support cutting aid to a Palestinian Authority that includes Hamas. The lawmakers remind Obama that it is actually illegal to give US aid to those listed as terrorists by the US State Department, which includes Hamas. It remains important to remember that Hamas was actually elected to power by the Palestinian public in 2006. In that election, Hamas won a strong majority in the Palestinian Parliament. When Abbas tried to stifle the group's power, Hamas lashed out and seized control of Gaza.
My Comments: My, doesn't that nice-looking group of young men above appear to really need our financial support (to buy more guns and bombs)? Walid Shoebat is a former Muslim and PLO terrorist, who converted to Christianity in 1993. He has gone before our top-ranking government officials, including the CIA and FBI, to try to convince them of the hypocrisy and true objectives of the Palestinian Authority and how very connected they are and always have been to Hamas. We can all ask ourselves why we are sending our hard-earned tax dollars to terrorists in the Middle East. This is insanity, not only because they are all terrorists and look for the annihilation of Israel, not peace - annihilation (peace treaties are just a means to the end, a way to get closer to the real objective), but we in America are also bankrupt! Obama sent 700 million dollars (we don't have) to refurbish mosques in the Middle East. We don't have money to send to terrorists or to refurbish their mosques, even if we wanted to, which is insane anyway! Calling all Americans - can someone assist with getting a president into the White House who is for America's interests? Again, there is an ultimate agenda behind the faith of all Muslims; its in the Qu'ran, if you don't believe this, all you have to do is read it - death to all Jews - that is the message. These people are brutal and blood thirsty. It is the makeup of their religious faith. Do you know of any other countries, besides Muslim nations, who regularly, yes about on a weekly basis, for one reason or another (it doesn't have to be for murder - it can be for saying something wrong against the Muslim faith) behead people in their central squares? Do you know of any other people, beside Muslims, who kill their daughters (honor killings) on a near regular basis? Forget Palestinian Authority or Hamas, why should we send any money to any Muslim anywhere, unless they repent and stop killing people?
