The City of Eucla, Australia reported temperatures of 119 degrees on January 3, 2013.  As of January 8, 2013, 741,000 acres have burned this season.

The United States experienced record-breaking heat last summer as well.  While it is winter here in the United States right now, Australia is in the middle of their summer season. 

The Bible tells us that in the last days, the sun will scorch men's flesh:

"And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire, and men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, who has power over these plagues, and they repented not to give Him glory" Revelation 16:8-9.

This is just one of the plagues that will be poured out upon the earth.  The Bible also tells us that seven vials full of the wrath of God will be poured out upon the earth during the great tribulation period, which will soon come upon the earth because of the wickedness of men (Revelation 15).

The Lord's saints will be "caught up" before the wrath of God is poured out upon the earth:

"Wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus, who delivered us from the wrath to come" 1 Thessalonians 1:10. 

"For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trump of God, and the dead in Christ shall rise first; then we which are alive and remain, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so shall we ever be with the Lord" 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18.
