If you follow this USGS link to the United States Geographical Survey Earthquakes Map, you can readily see that the world's recent major earthquakes follow the exact same sizable ring along the coasts of these continents.

So what does this tell us prophetically?  First consider what Peter said about the last days in Acts 2:19-20 "I (God) will show wonders in heaven above and signs in the earth beneath, blood, fire and vapor of smoke; and the sun will be turned to darkness and the moon into blood before the great and notable day of the Lord."  Then, if we read about what John saw in Revelation 6:14 and 16:20, "The heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together and every mountain and island was moved out of their places...And every island fled away and the mountains were not found;" a puzzle begins to come together, which gives us a very plausible scenario of events ready to unfold. 

With volcanoes erupting more frequently within the Ring of Fire and major earthquakes hitting the same Ring of Fire in record numbers, a picture comes together relating to the prophecies foretold in Acts and Revelation. 

Simultaneous catastrophic volcano eruptions could reshape, even flatten mountains, cause islands to crumble beneath the sea, and send such pillars of smoke into the atmosphere, that it causes the sun to appear darkened and the moon to shine blood red at night. 

A fire erupted near my home recently and when that happened, such blackened pillars of smoke ascended into the atmosphere that the sun was blocked and at different times, before the setting of the sun, it turned a blood red color.  The same effects could take place in the atmosphere if catastrophic volcano eruptions happen simultaneously, along the Ring of Fire perhaps. 

I don't find the current geographical events coincidental at all.  Nothing is coincidence regarding Bible prophecy.  Hundreds of prophecies have been fulfilled already and those remaining will come to pass, as sure as the sun rises in the east and sets in the west.
