A major 6.2 earthquake hit the New Britain region, Papua New Guinea on Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at 21:13:11 UTC, at a depth of 47.8 km (29.7 mi).  This is the fourth major (> 5.9) earthquake to hit in the last week, three of which hit on March 14.
