A great 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit the Scotia Sea on November 17, 2013, at 09:04:55 UTC, at a depth of 10.0 km (6.2 mi), reported USGS.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued a Pacific tsunami bulletin on 11/17/13, at 0917z; and a bulletin was issued to the Caribbean Sea location on 11/17/13, at 0918z. A tsunami is not expected, according to historical data, but these areas are to exercise caution in their regions.
