A major 6.1 magnitude earthquake hit central ranges in the northern territory of Australia on May 20, 2016, at 18:14:02 UTC, at a depth of 9 km, reported Geoscience Australia (not finalized).

 USGS:  At 11:51 UTC time, a 6.3 quake hit west of Macquarie Island, Australia, measuring 10 km (6.2 mi) in depth.  There has been no tsunami warning issued and no death reports at this time.
