A major 6.4 earthquake hit the Balleny Islands region on Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at 12:32:04 UTC, at a depth of 10.2 km (6.3 mi).  This is the second major earthquake that occurred in the last two days.  The graph below demonstrates just how much earthquakes have climbed in the last year and a-half.
