KILAUEA VOLCANO EXPLODES – LAVA OVERFLOWS RIM OF CALDERA

For the first time since 2008, lava overflowed the Halema’uma’u crater and spilled into the floor of the crater at about 2:00 am this morning. The Kilauea volcano in Hawaii exploded yesterday at 10:20 am local time, reported volcano-news.com.

Volcano-news.com shows 37 volcanoes erupting throughout world today, which do not include underwater volcanoes.

 USGS:  Last 24 hours:  The Kilauea volcano erupted on the big Island of Hawaii on 11/25/11, and is currently in "watch" status, with back to back DI (deflation-inflation) events continued, with the most recent DI deflation yesterday evening, followed by a drop in the summit lava lake.  At Pu'u' O'o', incandescence was visible from sources on the crater floor and on the southeast flank.  Lava flows were active so...
