Detroit, MI:  In 2011, 34 people were infected with the West Nile virus and there were two fatalities.  There have been 80 confirmed cases and five fatalities already this year in Michigan alone.

At least 1,590 people have been infected with WNV in the United States so far this year and 66 have died.  We are dealing with a severe outbreak of the disease in the US.  It is, in fact, the worst WNV outbreak in the US since it first appeared here 13 years ago.  Even so, scientists claim that about 80 percent of all WNV infections go unreported.

Neurological complications can become permanent and between 4 - 18 percent of all people with neuroinvasive disease die, and 56 percent of confirmed cases in the US have been categorized as neuroinvasive, reported ContraCostaTimes.com.

Be aware of stagnant water outside in your yard, or nearby, which can harbor mosquito larvae.  Keep pools, ponds, bird baths and the like treated, or empty in warm weather.  You can spray repellents on yourself and family, which contain ingredients like DEET, to repel mosquitos and avoid going out at dawn and dusk, which are high "feeding" points during the day.  Avoid leaving doors open and make certain screens are in good repair if you open windows.  Mosquitoes try to enter homes and feed on sleeping victims during the night.

The Bible tells us that pestilences will be prevalent in the last days.  Jesus said, "Nation will rise against nation, kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places" Matthew 24:7.  We are living in the last days, friends.

The Bible is "Middle East" oriented.  When Jesus told His disciples that nation would rise against nation, kingdom against kingdom, He was making reference to the nations surrounding Israel.  With the Arab Spring, Iran's nuclear threat to Israel, and the surrounding nations pointing bombs in Israel's direction, it is plain to see that time has about run out.

Are you prepared to stand before God and give an account of the life you have lived here on earth, whether you accepted or rejected the Son of God and His sacrifice on the cross for our sins?  If not, please visit the How Can I Be Saved page of this website.  God bless you.
