A major 6.0 magnitude earthquake hit the Rat Islands, Aleutian
Islands, on August 14, 2016, at 16:28:55 UTC, at a depth of 50 km, reported Geoscience
Australia (not finalized).
652 major (6.0+) to super (8.0+) earthquakes hit various places
worldwide over the last 1,273 days. Among these were 80 7.0+
and 6 8.0+ magnitude quakes. (Sources:

Major (6.0+) to super (8.0+) magnitude earthquakes have
increased to more than one every two days on average during the last 42 months. This is
