major 6.2 magnitude earthquake hit the southern Molucca Sea on
September 10, 2014, at 05:16:55 UTC, at a depth of 29 km, reported Geoscience Australia.
7 5.0 to 5.6 aftershocks hit the Molucca Sea region since this major quake occurred on September 10, 2014.
318 major to great (6.0+) earthquakes hit
various places over the last 570 days. Among these were 39 7.0+ and 4 8.0+ magnitude quakes. (Sources: CSEM-EMSC, Geoscience Australia, USGS, Pacific

Major to great magnitude earthquakes (6.0+) have increased
