A major 6.3 magnitude earthquake hit the New Ireland
region, Papua New Guinea, on June 21, 2016, at 17:12:08.8 UTC, at a depth of
375 km, reported CSEM-EMSC.
631 major (6.0+) to super (8+) earthquakes hit various places
worldwide over the last 1,217 days. Among these were 78 7.0+
and 6 8.0+ magnitude quakes. (Sources:
