A major 6.5 magnitude earthquake hit the Fiji region on
May 27, 2016, at 04:08:41.9 UTC, at a depth of 545 km, reported CSEM-EMSC.
614 major (6.0+) to super (8+) earthquakes hit various places
over the last 1,192 days. Among these were 77 7.0+
and 6 8.0+ magnitude quakes. (Sources:
