6.6 Major Earthquake Hits Costa Rica

A major 6.6 earthquake hit Costa Rica on Wednesday, October 24, 2012, at 00:45:34 UTC, at a depth of 20.1 km (12.5 mi).

Residents at the beach of Matapalo, about an hour from Nicoya, said they heard a roaring sound when the earthquake hit.  "I'm shaken, but it doesn't feel close to what it sounded like.  The sound was deafening," said Alberto Canales, a receptionist at the Hotel Riu Guanacaste, reported Boston.com.

Since when have major earthquakes hit with such a "deafening" sound?  YouTube.com is full of videos of great and strange sounds being heard all over the world.  You only need to go to YouTube.com and search "strange sounds in the world" and you will hear the most outrageous sounds being heard throughout the world!

Three major (>5.9) earthquakes have hit in less than four days.  The graph below demonstrates just how much earthquake activity has climbed in the last year and a-half.  Jesus said these signs would appear before He returns, "Nation will rise against nation, kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines, pestilences and earthquakes in various places" Matthew 24:7.  "There will be great earthquakes in various places, famines and pestilences and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven" Luke 21:11.

Jesus also said, "When you see these things, know that it is near (His return), even at the doors" Matthew 24:33. 

The graph below shows the drastic increase in earthquake activity between 2010 and 2011 (look closely at the 2011 increase on the graph near the right border).
