A super 8.0 magnitude earthquake hit Solomon Islands on
January 22, 2017, at 0430 UTC, at a depth of 168 km / 104 mi, reported the
Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, HI.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued a Tsunami
Threat Message on January 22, 2017, at 0438 UTC.
749 major (6.0+) to super (8.0+) earthquakes hit various places
worldwide over the last 1,429 days. Among these were 88 7.0+

Major to super magnitude earthquakes have increased to more than
