DEMAND FREEDOM FOR SGT TAHMOORESSI

Assemblyman Tim Donnelly received an invitation to a legislative luncheon in Sacramento on Tuesday to honor Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto.

Governor and Mrs Jerry Brown will host the luncheon to discuss climate change with Mexico’s president, instead of negotiating the release of our Marine Sgt Andrew Tahmooressi, who has been jailed in Mexico since March, when he took a wrong turn into Mexico with three (legal) firearms in his vehicle.

I received word from Assemblyman Donnelly’s Office that a protest will be held in support of the release of Marine Sgt Andrew Tahmooressi, who suffers from posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), after having served two tours of duty in Afghanistan.

Assemblyman Donnelly declined Governor Brown’s invitation, in light of Tahmooressi’s confinement in Mexico, and will instead head up a protest just outside of the location where the luncheon is being held, as follows:

Tuesday, August 26, 2014

from 9:30 am – 1:30 pm

outside of the Leland Stanford Governors Mansion Museum

800 “N” Street

Sacramento, CA

* A note from Assemblyman Donnelly’s Office

Please bring your U.S. Flags and Protest Signs

Please keep the focus ONLY on the release of Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi

We will meet outside the Leland Stanford Museum, on the Public Sidewalks  to exercise our Constitutional Right to Assemble and Protest

In order for this to be a successful Peaceful Protest, we need to be respectful of our law enforcement, but Loud & Proud in defense of our Marine!

My hat is off to Assemblyman Donnelly for declining Brown’s luncheon, held in very poor taste - to say the least - in light of Sgt Tahmooressi’s confinement in Mexico.

Fox News reported on Monday that Senator Joel Anderson (R-Alpine) has also declined Brown’s luncheon, stating,

“I do not have an appetite for foreign officials who deny US citizens their basic human rights. I am concerned that our military would feel betrayed if it appeared we condoned the harsh and unfair treatment of Sgt Andrew Tahmooressi.”

Bravo, Senator Anderson!

God bless both of these gentlemen who have no regard for political hobnobbing; but rather have a heart and deep respect for our troops and will honorably defend them.

The Word of God tells us,

“Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due, custom to whom custom is due, fear to whom fear is due, and honor to whom honor is due” Romans 13:7.

The Apostle Paul also wrote,

“Preach the Word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine” 2 Timothy 4:2.

I have the “reproving and rebuking” down pat, but I fall a bit short when it comes to the “long suffering” part, so pray for me.

Governor Brown, you are shameful!
